As we get ready to put 2022 in the books and prepare for 2023, thousands of people have been putting off smoking until the New Year.  In fact, there's a good chance that you may be one of them.  Perhaps you previously quit only to relapse and hope that 2023 will be the year that you finally quit for good.  Maybe you know that you need to quit but think that you enjoy it too much, it calms you down, helps you cope with stress or even are of the mindset, "well, we have to die of something and might as well be from something that I enjoy."  The truth is, you don't actually enjoy smoking and it doesn't help you cope with stress as it only adds stress to your life.  These are just a couple of the lies propagated by big tobacco and willingly believed by nicotine addicts (insert everybody at QuitTrain because we all believed this nonsense at one time).

Do you know that there are over 7000 chemicals in cigarettes with at least 70 of them to be known to cause cancer or that within minutes of quitting smoking, your body is already fast at work at repairing the damage caused by smoking?

The good news is that you don't need hope or luck to quit smoking.  You don't even need to be strong to quit smoking as you only need to be smarter than cigarettes.  Thankfully, all of us were/are in the luck because tobacco has no IQ.  However, the tobacco companies do and for decades they've successfully spread their lies about smoking and took countless lives to become rich.

With the help of the members at QuitTrain and the educational materials provided by Joel Spitzer, you can quickly learn the truth about nicotine addiction and how to kick this deadly habit and enjoy the freedoms of a non-smoker.

Please know, the instant, the very moment you put out your last cigarette you're a non-smoker!  There is no waiting period or probationary period to endure; you're simply a non-smoker.  That said, there is no time to waste because in order to stay off nicotine forever, you, like all of us, must learn about nicotine and why we smoke/smoked.  This is why education about this deadly addiction is so important for without it, there is a good chance that you will remain a smoker for life or be trapped in the viscous cycle of quitting and relapsing.

Is Your New Year's Resolution To Quit Smoking?

New Years is typically a time when many people decide to try to quit smoking, often using a New Year's resolution as a device to start their quits. This video explains that while such past resolutions didn't last, this year can be different and how the resources below can help you to make this year the one that you finally quit smoking and stick to a personal commitment to never take another puff.

Quitting Is More Doable Than Most People Think

The idea that quitting smoking is close to impossible is often perpetuated at Internet quit sites. This video hits home the point that this is a dangerous misconception. Quitting is in fact more doable than most people think.

You may also enjoy some of the documentaries about cigarette smoking, including my personal favorite, "Death In The West, The Marlboro Story".  “Death in the West” is considered to be one of the finest documentaries ever made.  It was originally produced for British television and vigorously suppressed by tobacco interests. This powerful expose of cigarette advertising myths juxtaposes the healthy independent image of the Marlboro man, defended in revealing interviews with tobacco industry executives, with the stark reality of six smoking cowboys, all dying of smoking-induced illnesses.

I decided to quit before New Year´s because it´s easy to keep postponing it. Today is my quit day and maybe I´ll feel crappy (hope not) at the New Year´s party, but I don´t want to start 2015 as a smoker.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
