I did it... faced my fears. Quit cold turkey. I'm far from reaching my old (phony) 3 months but I proved and faced it. I feel so much better without nicotine... I finally had the courage and faith to pull through. If only I had known it was bearable to pull it off.

Thanks everybody and apologies for not taking this step earlier.

Congratulations, Evelyn, and Merry Christmas! The good thing about cold turkey is that it's going to get easier every day from now on. With NRT, you keep feeling the withdrawal from nicotine every day. This way you don't. So good for you! Sounds like you're really on the right track now.

Oh Evelyn,

So good to hear. Yes, the physical pull should really go away now. The emotional will still yank your chain, and often, when you least expect it but losing the physical pull will help. I know once I stopped using the lozenges, I really felt a difference, and began to feel much better physically, blood pressure, etc.

I'm rooting for both of us!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
