Morn'n Jess,

sorry i wasn't here for you last night.. but it looks like you were smart and strong and hung in there, and thats wonderful, great job!!  .. posting an sos has saved many-many quits.. proud of you hun!!

sooooo, hows your head this morning?.. a bit hung over maybe?... as long as you didn't smoke..

I understand the  "can't imagine never smoking again"..  for me.. it goes one step further..never drinking again, I'm an alcoholic and a nicotine addict.. you said you wish you could be a "social smoker"... I wish I could be a social drinker... but I can't be a social drinker  anymore then you can be a social smoker..thats just a fact.

...today I won't drink and today I won't smoke... like El B says "tomorrow rinse and repeat"...THATS how the days add up -thats  how yours, mine, all of our quits get stronger.. one  crave at a time, .. one day at a time

I tell you in all honesty, it does get easier I PROMISE YOU that!!

good job posting an sos Jess.. keep your NOPE (just for today)  you're doing amazing sweetie, you really are  {{hugs}}

Jess....

Change all your negative thoughts in to positive ones....

Clogging your lungs with toxins till you carnt breath with out a oxygen machine is no way to end your life....

Gasping for every tiny bit of air you can manage to grasp....

If you want to pm me...i will, explain it in more detail....

You have two months free....your lungs are healing.....they are taking in fresh air .every breath you take....

I smoked 52 years....if I can do it...so can you.....

I did it taking one day at a time.....some times hourly......not thinking any further than that.....

You know you would hate being a smoker.....you would hate yourself.....

That's why you came here....

Stay strong.....

Hugs xx

I am so relieved to be having this conversation this morning with you, Jess.

You strengthened your quit in many ways last night by not smoking

and maybe by karaoke  :P  .  I am SO proud of you.

Love,

S

Lol unfortunately no karaoke tonight at this party. But I rocked it last night ..may have to hit the circuit I could get addicted to the applause.. nevermind that it was probably that my duet partner and I were finished with the song!

Again thanks...xx

Jess, thank you for posting this update. Last night I thought you were going to be OK, but it's nice to get the official confirmation. By the way, I DO know Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"--I must have been having a senior moment last night.  I'm glad your karaoke went well.

Say, could you do us a favor? I just started a new thread called "No! Do NOT post an SOS!"   When you  get a chance will you add your comments? I'm interested in exploring what makes someone decide to post or not post an SOS. You probably struggled with not posting last night before you finally did post. So what was your train of thought? What gave you the courage to post an SOS last night?

Again, congratulations on a great job last night. Now you know that you ARE strong enough to keep your quit even at a holiday party with smokers. Of course, that doesn't mean you would want to do that again any time soon, but you know that is one trigger that you can meet and overcome. Good for you!

Oh Bakon you are hilarious! But through all that I get your message and I thank you. Tonights Christmas party should be easier bi karaoke and pretty sure I won't be drinking much if at all. Last night the social smokers told me there is no reason I can't also be one I just have to commit to smoking only when I'm out. Even with a few drinks that made no sense...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
