Last week a friend of mine teXted me a question... my reply was " when was your last cigarette? "

At that point he had been 24 hours smoke free and not sure what he was in for.  For a full week now I have been on hand with encouragement and explanations to help keep him going. It has been bringing back a lot of memories from my early days of quitting, I almost forgot a lot of what I went through and it is of coarse a lot of what he is going through now. I have been through the whole "your wife and family are not going to understand what is going on with you and to take what they say with a grain of salt. But whats different in real life is I am talking and educating his family too.  We have been through some pretty good crave sessions, many triggers and he understands the power of NOPE too. I wish he would come join here with all of you, but so far he will not and is doing ok with what assistance I can give. He is very determined and I think he has a really good chance, we are all really proud of him!

I am telling you about this because at some point I am probably going to come here for advice for him because I am a realist and know that I do not have all the answers. As a matter of fact I have been reading a lot of the new quitter questions this week to help me with him. I have also returned to a previous location to dig up some of my early threads to remember what it was like for me at that stage. LOL... some of them I had forgotten about completely, some of them really made me laugh ( Babs ).

It made me realize once again how fortunate we are to have a place like this. So I just wanted to say what a great support all of you are!!  And thanks for giving me the tools to help a friend do something that he feared not being able to do.

And for you newcomers.. all you need to know is you are in the right place here, and no matter what... the only thing you have to do is never take another puff!!!!

Thanks and Congrats to All of You!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
