I haven't been able to see out of my right eye for almost 4 yrs, but because of my income I now can have Medicaid so they said the right was a 4+ & the right was 2+, plus after testing my 14 yr old glasses they said wow are you nearsighted. So please any of you who are diabetic don't be a dumb@ss like me & not go for yrly eye exams, it sucks not seeing well. The bad eye is being done dec 8 & the other dec 22. I should be off a wk each time but I doubt my boss would pay me for being at home so I'll just miss 2 days that wk & luckily for the other eye its christmas break. Hopefully I'll be seeing well enough to go to midnite mass.

Just to cover all your bases,

St Lucy is the gal for your eyes

I call on her all the time.

Her feast day is December 13

Just in time for a quick healing for you.

I will be burning candles like I did for Ava.

Good luck, Queen Green.

Great news Beth. I am so happy that you are finally getting the medical treatments that you need. I'll be sending you positive thoughts.

Hi, Beth-

I know how scarey it is to "volunteer" for surgery, especially on the eyes. But I know so many people who say that the surgery and recovery are not difficult and their quality of life after is so much better. Try to be calm and optimistic.

By the way, because of your post I just made an appointment for my annual retina checkup. Thanks for the reminder!

Beth, I had cataract surgery on both my eyes several years ago and it was easy peasey, as Sarge would say.  I was off work two days each time, and actually could have gone to work the second day after the doc took off the patch. As far as the surgery itself, they give you happy juice and then you see bright swirly colors and then it is over.  (or that is how it was for me)  I don't remember my numbers, but I know the Doc said I really wasn't seeing anything out of one of my eyes.  My vision improved tremendously.  I hope you have as easy a time and as great results as I did!

I'm sorry you need surgery but I am glad you can have it and that it will be covered.   Now with Medicaid you should be able to see doctors more often which is so important with diabetes.  xx Thinking of you!

Good luck on your upcoming cataract surgery what Nancy said is true they give some good meds and then you see colors and then done ....your first one you will barely remember going into the or room or at least not much after that...the second one you will remember a little more but not much some docs do a block some use other types of numbing meds in the eye prior to operating. It will go quickly and be done before you know it and hopefully will see much better. :) Heres to a quick recovery.
