What are your favorites? Are you the holiday chef?

I am the one who does all of the holiday cooking, while everyone cleans up after me :)

Our menu is actually really large because we have our families and people from Mr. DD's platoon over to spend the day with us if they can't make it home. It's awesome.

Stuffed mushrooms

Stuffed peppers

Turkey

Stuffing

Sweet potato casserole

Mashed potatoes

Zucchini casserole

Corn on the cob

Broccoli with cheese sauce

Brussels sprouts

Bread pudding

Apple pie

Pumpkin pie

Cherry Pie

Cream puffs

oh geez....i'm cooking but if I cooked all that you do...I would have to start today!  sounds awesome!  I love that you take the guys in who can't see their families....you are awesome!

I'm tossing the bird in the oven and then will be doing a 5k that morning...a turkey trot for our local homeless shelter

I know I will be eating good that day so...i may as well earn it   :)

I start the day before on most of it. One year I had to do it twice because we had one Thanksgiving here with my mother and the guys and the next day we went up to my Dad's house to have a Saturday Thanksgiving with my Dad and some retirees from his old unit. I cooked both dinners, LOL.

I wish that I could actually do a run Babs. That is super awesome. I usually sleep at my mom's house on Thanksgiving eve. Before I start cooking I'll grab a dog and go for a run.

The guys only get a four day and it isn't worth them paying expensive travel tickets to turn around and come right back. I do it for any holiday that they don't get to take leave on. I love having a houseful, makes me happy.

Really nice and special DD!!

I cook but this year it is only going to be 4 of us so far... Thanksgiving for us is always different every year.. I call it my holiday because it is the one holiday that I do not drive and anyone that wants to come here for dinner knows that we will be here and cooking away... this will be my first gluten free thanksgiving so there will be some changes.... I kind of keep it traditional. this pic is last years 19 pound turkey ready to go into the oven, the one thing that i do that is a little different is I de-bone the turkey... just the legs and wings still have bones.. I like this because when it is time to carve, it is so simple...

Thanksgiving dinner is my most favorite meal EVAH!   I can't wait!!   Sometimes I cook other times my sister or my Mum.

We have the traditional stuff.  Turkey, bisquits, gravy, mashed pot, tons of different veggie dishes, pies etc....

Just writing about it is making me drool.

Oh my! This all looks/sounds delish!!

Think I'll just start out at DD's, then head over to Babs (after her 5k).

And maybe drop in on Scott, because by that time I'll be ready for yet more turkey.

End up at Jenny's for pie :)

Yummy, everything's better with butter. I'm from Iowa and never heard of  "shoepeg corn"? Is it just whole kernal corn?

oh wow, I have seen this mixed with the yellow whole kernal corn, but I've never seen it called "shoepeg". I'll have to check a little closer in the grocery store the next time I'm there. Maybe it's just a southern thing?

Good luck getting the quinoa in the bird Scott! That sounds like it is going to be a delicious mess!

We start decorating the house on Black Friday, I don't go shopping because I wouldn't look good in prison orange.

Hhhmmm..

Apparently we are suppose to get  6 to 10 inches of snow wednesday into thursday??? that is gonna screw up some plans. My nieces wanted to know if we would rescedule thanksgiving if the weather was bad... I told them no... I will just eat without them and freeze some leftovers for them. lol

I will do my last minute shopping tomorrow morning with the other billion people shopping for thanks giving, we will be joined by those people that need to food shop like gluttons when ever snow is forcasted.

Thank god I have most of what i need.

I am liking these pearl onions.. lots to do with them. I still making them creamed with spinach and mushrooms for thanksgiving. I also found a recipe where they are batter dipping them and frying, looked really good.  I am also going to look into pickling them.
