Well...The boat never sailed..

It didn't take my one and only trip to Vegas for me to realize that... if it wasn't for bad luck...I wouldn't have any !!

So much has happened since I last visited these pages that there is no way I am going to try and recap it all...

I think it started when my wife was called into work the day before we were scheduled to leave..and had to work a 12 hr shift..she got home at 7:30pm..still had bags to pack, ..didn't get to bed till midnight...and we were up at 3am to get to Cleveland for our flight to Florida...

Oh..that would have been United flight 1666  I joking told my wife that maybe that was a bad oman and maybe we should take a different flight...little did I know I wasn't too far from the truth...lol...

We landed to find out the Ship we were to sail on hit a reef a few nights earlier leaving the Bahamas and had a nice big hole in the side of it and our cruise was canceled (It would have been nice if that information was passed on to us while we were still home)

The offered to put us on the Norwegian Dawn cruse ship but it didn't sail for 2 days after ours originally did, and got back 2 days later...which meant my airline tickets had to be changed...If I wanted to spend $150 for each ticket to exchange them I could, but they wouldn't reimburse me for it..after all..they are fulfilling their obligation and we are cruising in the Bahamas like we paid for...any other costs we would have to pay....I WAS FURIOUS!!..I was given another option and that was to just go home and reschedule it any time in the next year...of course, with no reimbursement of any of my expenses this time..so..In a very diplomatic way I told them to shove it  and just give me my money back and I would reschedule some time in the next year with a different cruise line!...

so..while in Rome...

We got in our rental car and drove up the coast a bit and found a "quaint" little resort in Pompano Beach...It was great!..being "off season" it was like having the place to ourselves!

This was our view right outside our door..it was a nice 2 room suite right on the ocean.

All in All..it turned out to be a good week once I got over being pi$$ed the first day...a few days in the sun ..peace and quiet...my wife and a few beers...life can be good..here is a few more shots of my week.

I have a ton more that in the coming days weeks you will get tired of seeing ;)

Then...we came home on Sat....a few weeks before we left, I had gotten word that my uncle (my Moms youngest brother) had stage 4 lung cancer and then also had a stroke and wasn't doing well...He suspected something in May and by July he knew but they elected not to seek treatments. He said he remembered what my Mother had gone through, and if the Drs couldnt give him some kind of assurance that he wouldnt go through the same thing, he would just skip the Chemo and radiation and at least be able to enjoy his last days...he passed on Friday.

So...I wasnt ignoring the posts inquiring where I was..This may shock most of you, but I dont have a laptop and have no desire to have one...lol..how-ever, my typing skills on my phone may be improving, but need to get a LOT better before I try any posts like this..lol

So..even with a bad start and sad ending...the week in between was a much needed get away to just take a break and relax...

I dont usually post the pics as thumbnails like I did this time, but figured they were big and I didnt want to make a huge post..with that said..I have no idea why this last one stays at the bottom..in my text it doesnt, but when I preview...there it is...Que Sera, Sera

Joe, I am sorry for your disappointment buy, hey, that little place in Florida looks like a slice of paradise to me. I wouldn't exactly cal that a hardship posting! Great photos, too. Good for you for making lemonade out of a lemon. (And good for you for telling them to shove it with their "rescheduling" option!) Which cruise line was that, by the way?

I am sorry that you had to come home to such sad news about your uncle. With your family history, I'm doubly glad that you quit smoking!

That sucks.  I hear lots of disaster cruise stories.  I've made a mental note to avoid them.

So happy you had a wonderful time anyway!  Good to have you back though.  you've been missed.

thanks for the kind words everyone..My Uncle was my favorite...it was him who got me interested in mustangs. He was only 9 years older than I was and when he was in high school, he worked at the local Ford dealer detailing new cars...well..right after he graduated high school, he bought a new mustang...a '71 Mustang Boss 351 ..today that car would be quite collectable..how-ever, he only had it about 6 months and took a curve too fast and totaled the car :( ..well..he went right back to the dealership and bought another..only it wasnt the Boss..at the time he didnt really care..it was still a blue '71 mustang sportroof with a 351 Cleveland /c6 in it...he drove it until I needed my first car  :)  ..so...my first mustang was my uncle (Dons) hand me down ...  Ever since then I was hooked..

Wow..too deep?....TMI....lol

I actually came back to quote DD.. not for what she said, but so she comes back and sees my pic I took just for her  ;)

So..one evening me and the mrs  is driving around seeing whats in the area and we come across a Hard Rock Cafe  :) .. we parked in the garage instead of valet parking..it was a cool evening by Florida standards and the walk to the casino was kinda long..it wound through a bunch of out door shops and such...I was amazed that no one was there..

Once inside ,how-ever, it was a different story..the casino was fairly packed.....just for the record...we left our donation with them before we called it a night...i did have to sit and play this one slot in particular...just for DD.. (well...I am a fan also  ;) )
