28 days and 23 hours since you quit..lets call it 29 days.

Your blood pressure will have normalised.

The nicotine is long gone from your system.

You no longer smell like an ashtray.

Your teeth will be better.

Your gums will be better.

Your breath does not resemble a dragon any more.

Your skin will be better.

Your eyes are brighter.

You have more money in your pocket.

You ARE not losing Jess.

YOU ALREADY WON!

Sometimes, your mind will start telling you that you want a cigarette...ask it some questions...

What particular bit of a smoke do you want? The taste? the smell? The catch in your throat?

Which bit?

You don't really want a smoke Jess.

29 Days is fantastic - you are doing an awesome job - you have pushed through the toughest bits.

It is getting better and better! It will continue to do so!

I thin knits a combo of chanix and cravings. I do not like how I feel and at thus point I really don't care. I cut the chanix dose down and will check with MD tomorrow about getting off it or switching to zyban.

Jess - at the end of my first month, I had a kind of head fog - where I seemed to be living in slow motion.

Sometimes I ached, I mean ached for a cigarette. A couple of things that really helped;

1. Moving. I am far from an athlete - but I used to get up and walk.

2. Getting stuck into something - cooking, cleaning, anything just to keep me blank.

Great idea talking to the Doc -

Chantix and Zyban - I know nothing of so can't help you there

Keep going Jess - 29 days is brilliant - and you have beaten the worse now!

jess I found the first 3 weeks a real physical  struggle as there is where we are fighting the withdraws and its very real and you feel you fighting it, it then there after became a more emotional or mental battle

it is part of the journey to freedom

there are others here who used chantix and then came off it, so hopefullly they can advise you on their journeys and then you can decide the best for you with this knowledge and the doctor

there will be times in our journeys that it will suck big time, ride the storm jess and hang on

well done for posting, keep reaching out, you can always pm us or write stuff in the basement if it gets personal

working through these times and talking about it, is our best defence xxx

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal.  I did not feel "like myself" for some time and found, at times, that the fight was getting harder rather than better.

I took chantix and when I went off it I switched to prozak to help with my anxiety and somewhat depressed mood.  It helped a lot.  Speak with your doc, but please know that these feelings are temporary.   You've made a significant change in your life and it will take time for the dust to settle, but it will.  xx

Jess. Yes, it sucks. I am sorry that it sucks but for the first month or so... it does. Just know that it doesn't stay forever it does end and you can do it. I don't know about Chantix, although we do have members who quit with it. Nancy and Chrysalis come to mind. Smoking isn't going to make it any better though. You will just feel worse and would have thrown all of your hard work out. I know that you don't want to do that.

Do you want to go into chat? I'll tell you stupid jokes until it passes... :D

You're not losing and it's quite the opposite.  If the problem is the Chantix (or even part of it), see if your doctor might want you to stop completely.  You don't need that to quit as you're already quit and those meds can mess with ya.

Jess I remember that I was real tired of the craves after the first few weeks and didn't know if I could keep going. At day 22 I gota maasage and it really helped. Also, not that this is great, but I did start to eat some sweets to help me at that time. Keep going, mkeep going

Be strong, hang tough, yell, holler, scream and stop all you want.

You are winning!  You are smoke free!

Appreciate your Journey, you are no longer murdering yourself, killing yourself s l o w l y and tortuously.

You have chosen F R E E D O M.

This Freedom might take some sweat, might take some work,

this Freedom might make you uncomfortable for a short time

but,  this Freedom is Life Affirming and Will Not KILL YOU.

You are your own Hero, now.

Hi Jess, sorry I'm a little late!

I agree that week 3/4 sucked for me, too - I even drove into something in a carpark (which I NEVER do), because I had really bad brain fog... The good news is that after this, it got so much better! Try to remember that tomorrow will be better. I kept telling myself that for a while, and eventually it becomes true :)

Sgt got a good idea. Turn that pain around till it feels good. Like that your body is fighting. Chantix is some goofy stuff. I tried it years ago and worked while I took it but quit cause I hated everything else when on it. I hated dreams I hated being awake. I hates people I hated not smoking.

This time cold turkey was easier. I week and I had its ass kicked. Your further. Consider just dropping the pill and fighting. You got us

You all are so supportive.. thank you. I believe my biggest issue is the Chanix. I have heard from several people that one can react different to it each time it is taken. My last time it was great..this time I have had many negative side effects that are not pleasant. I am not a happy person on this med.....

Sorry, so late.

I had to ditch the chanting, it sent me mental. Dreams, anxiety, mood swings etc. I sympathize is my point. BUT it was all worth it for today. Just choose to keep marching. You are doing amazing Jesus. You are winning a battle for your own freedom. Read bandit,s post of how much healing and financial benefits you have. I am cheering for you. Stay strong. Early night, live to fight another day?

Last thing, I always found a great day followed a bad one and the tough times. . . That was when my quit grew stronger!

You are doing it, be proud! Loves. X
