I've had pains in my chest since yesterday and I think it's probably my lungs that are responsible. Has anyone experienced this just after quitting?

Posted

I did not experience anything like this, although it could be related to the quit.

But I would take any chest pain serious, and get checked out at dr or emergency room.

Just to be on the safe side.

Hi Rowley, I did not experience this, no. Has this happened when you quit in the past, or is this a 'new' thing?

Same here - don't want to get you nervous - but I did not experience any pains either - do you have any kids of anxiety? Has it happened before?

Either way hope all is ok -

my chest pains over the years have all been due to

1, anxiety

2, sleeping weirdly or doing something that pulled muscles

Since you have quit smoking,

anxiety is a likely suspect at the beginning.

Do you meditate ?

Meditation is good breathing, calming breathing and highly recommended.

Stretching exercises too !

If pains are wigging you out

go to a medical professional.

Love,

S

No, I didn´t experience this. I agree that you should get checked, just to know it´s not something serious, because chest pain can be a symptom for a lot of things. Please keep us notified of how you feel!

Hey Rowly - probably a touch of anxiety or something muscular.

In simple terms - don't mess around with Chest pains. Go see a Doc. Put your mind at ease.

When in doubt, see a doctor.  They can do an EKG and instantly pick up on any issues.  I had this done at work as part of a routine physical.  Less than 5 minutes and I walked away with a peace of mind.

Best thing to do is see a doctor just to be on the safe side.  What can it hurt?  It can only help.

I had this weird pain in my back by my shoulder blade for the first few months I quit. My doc said it was nothing, and so did Babs. Finally I stopped thinking about it and it went away. I'm sure it's nothing Rowly, but better safe than sorry, I'd pop in to see the doc.

I deal with a lot of chest pain, but I have something called Costochondritis. The cartilage between my ribs swells and my entire left side hurts for days. I have had chest pains for years though and a lot of times, it was muscular or anxiety related.

Definitely get it checked out, but don't freak out. Talk to your doctor first. He (or she) will run the necessary tests.

Hi and thanks for all the replies. I did experience this last time I tried to quit and got a whole bunch of tests and turned out I had bronchitis. It's not as bad this time and seems to be easing out today....
