Comrade...how long have I been a non-smoker??

Had a full test workup the other day - EKG, blood enzymes and xray. All is as it ought to be; what's left is just building back my stamina. Cardio therapy going well. Massive dietary change has enabled me to get off all blood pressure medications. I'd say I am 40% of what I used to be which is pretty good six weeks after getting shocked back to life.

Still really glad that I had quit smoking 7 months before the heart attack - having to quit while in the hospital would have really sucked.

Julie - on the 24th you'll have 9 months. I'll ping you a chip ;-)

Comrad, thanks for the update. It sounds like your body is healing remarkably quickly. That's due in part to you having quit smoking months ago. Good for you! Keep up with the PT and your strength will be back before you know it.

Building back your stamina eh....? Ask Santa to bring you one of those step counters....the fitbit is a pretty cool little gadget.

And from what I hear, Aine makes great healthy stuff.....mashed up chick peas with garlic and stuff. So lay off the poutine, eh?

Yeah. I tried some the last time I was in Canada. It wasn't bad-- tastes just as you would expect. But I think I'll stick with my hot, crispy French Fries with just a little salt thank you very much.  :)

PS-- I will say that in my opinion, poutine is way better than chili fries!  :(

What is the cheese curd comparable to? Fresh mozzarella? Or something else?

Yes, cheese curds are like salty mozzarella with a little bit of cheddar flavor. When eaten at room temperature, they squeak when you bite into them. Actually, I LOVE cheese curds-- just not on my French fries.  :P

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
