I know I don't post much and I don't participate all that much, so most of you barely even know me, but I had to share.  I have gained so much weight since I quit smoking that I had to do something.  A month ago, I really started buckling down and watching my food intake, keeping my cals at 1700 to 1800 a day and walking 3 - 10 minute walks a day.

It has paid off!!!  I have lost 12 lbs.  I saw the doc today and he said if I can lose another 20 by around the first of December, we will run new blood work and see if we can take me off the pre diabetic medication I just got put on!

So I'm THRILLED with my weight loss!  I have a ton to go, but its a start.  And its all because I figured, if I can quit smoking... I can lose this damn weight!

Congratulations, Becca! Keep up the good work. And keep posting here-- I need some inspiration. I, too, am struggling to get rid of my "quit weight". To your health!!

Thanks Guys!  I want to lose my quit weight, and then some.  But I am proud of myself.  I've always been fat, but at least somewhat healthy fat.  Once I gained all the weight from quiting, I was just miserable and couldn't walk without huffing and puffing and I know it wasn't because of the side effects of quiting smoking!  This too, I'm taking one day at a time.  I can count the calories and walk the walks ... one day at a time.

I'm pretty damn proud of myself though!

This is fabulous, Becca !  I am really proud of you.  Twelve Lbs seems like a MOUNTAIN to me.

But, I will get motivated too, just like you.

Breaking my leg and hoof AND quitting smoking made for a hungry and rebellious Sazerac

Thank you for posting, bebe.

Love,

Way to go Becca!  Want to a not so secret, secret?  Most of us exercising like mad were not always like that...it came from quitting!

I needed to read this again today.  I'm struggling.  I'm thinking I can't do this and all I want to do is consume sugar.  I know the bright side is that I don't want to smoke, but I still have the thought process of.... I'm not smoking, I can eat whatever I want, how ever much I want and I CAN'T do that any more!!

Embrace the suck and one day at a time...Right guys?

I just need to get through today.  I'm not overeating by any stretch.  I just want to pick.  I'm bored silly at work and I just want to pick.  Eat the nuts, eat the apple, eat the banana.  It's not like I have "bad" foods to eat.  But I just want to eat!!!

Why is it that in my mind, quiting smoking was so much easier?  Ya just don't smoke!!

Probably because we can't commit to NOME - not one mouthful ever !!

2 more lbs down this month, but I have not been staying at or below my calorie goal.  I need to get better at that and work harder on it.  I'm also finding that I want to rush it.  I want to be smaller right now and I have to keep reminding myself that I sure didn't get this big all at one time, so it sure isn't going to come off all at one time either.

I'm still walking along though so its all good!

Thanks for the support.  This place really is the best!

It took me almost a year to lose the weight... I would lose 8 or so pounds and then nothing for 3 or so weeks?? Then all the sudden another 5 would disappear and then nothing etc. etc.

I lost 55 pounds, the first 25 to 30 took me almost 8 months ( I basically gave up bread pasta potatoes and I started peddling a bike ). Then I joined a gym and started doing light weights with a personal trainer, two 30 minute sessions per week. The Weight thing was the key, I lost the next 20+ pounds in less than two months.

Someone else will be able to explain it better, But working the muscles starts them burning calories and fat all day long. Its amazing because I was not even lifting alot of weight, although I did feel it.

think about using some of that found money from not smoking and hiring a personal trainer for a few months.

Thanks Scott.  I appreciate the feed back.  I might look into a trainer.  Not a 100% sure how it works.  We have free membership here at work to a gym, but I don't know if they have trainers or not.

I have a long way to go, but I'll get there!  I haven't given up anything, I am just watching my calories counts.  I'll try this for a few months and see how it does.  I don't want to go with fad diets or pills, so we shall learn as we go.

Well I am officially down 30lbs and I saw the doctor today.  He took me off the pre-diabetic medication I was on!  YEAH!!!!!  I'm so thrilled.  I'm going to get into my closet this weekend and see if I can fit into my old clothes.  He wants to continue to monitor my A1C, so I go get blood work done in 3 months, but other than that he was extremely pleased with my progress.

Happy day!!!

Thanks Guys!
