Really? Over a freakin year.

I was always amazed that I would get coupons in the mail. I never signed up for anything, ever. They are sneaky bastards, aren't they.

That is some messed up .....  You should send back a Note of being quit over a year - see if they send you coupons for something else instead. LOL

I find it hard to comprehend that that's even allowed over there... Unbelievable!!

That's shocking!! Like action, can't believe they are allowed?!

Yep they are. Certain areas in the US, mainly the Northern states, cigarettes cost 15+ dollars a pack. A lot of smokers were quitting when the cost started increasing. This is when they started upping the amounts of nicotine (not proven, yet, I am still researching) to keep people hooked. They also started coupon campaigns to make it easier for smokers to keep smoking. I don't know about Nancy's location but here where I am they are starting to implement the same tax increases on cigarettes that they have in the North. Big tobacco is probably panicking.

Camel was a big player in the couponing.  I would always get coupons from them.  I would also get coupons for snus.  Not even really sure what that is...but it seem to start to become popular when cigs went up in price.  I am just glad I am done with that...it is soooo nice.

So, guess what came in the mail today??  $ off coupons for Virginia Slims!!

OMG!!!!  That would be illegal here in Australia since it would be considered advertising which is banned for cigarettes!!!!

Nancy I want to smack them for you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
