Welcome Wendy,

You know what to do.

N O P E.

Your quit doesn't have to be a horror show, things change, you change.  Symptoms can come and GO.

This isn't your first rodeo.

You need to address smoking and studying in a BIG way and break that association.

It is not hard to do...just the DOING.

Read read read.

Acknowledge your Addiction,

find your strength in N O P E,

and have a beautiful Freedom.

Love,

Hi Wendy...welcome aboard..

i can offer you a bit of advise that might have helped the first time......

Now that you have joined the site, dont just lurk....PARTICIPATE  ..read and post anytime you feel the need..

You may be aware of our S.O.S board...anytime you feel as though you just cant keep the quit going..post an SOS and hold off on lighting up until you have received at least 3 responses...This Board is active and someone will hear your shouts for help and try to be there for you...

4 days is quite the start..way to go!!

remember..studying isnt why you had to quit again.....it is because you smoked...

you can control that..just dont light up..you will see posted here quite often N.O.P.E...=  Not One Puff Ever !!

with that in mind, I can GUARANTEE that you will never smoke again..how-ever..you have to follow N.O.P.E.

its great you are having an easier time of it, but dont let the addiction fool you into thinking its so easy, I can do it again...

You will have some easy days..and some bad ones..the longer you stay quit, the less the bad days come around...

OK Wendy, great to meet you, and super-congratulations on 4 days - that's just teriffic :)

Nice to know that you have been with us for a while, and that you have re-started your journey to find your forever quit - rhis could very well be the one ;)

It's great that you are having a relatively good quit so far, and I guess that you just need to stay positive, and vigilant of what might be around the corner... now that you have reached out to us, please do not be afraid to post as often as you like (just look at our Sazerac!), and use the SOS feature in an emergency!

I look to travelling this journey with you, and hope you are having a great day ;)

So glad you decided to post, Wendy!  Welcome!  Every quit is different, so we can't predict if there are more difficult days ahead.  What I do know is that you said you are worried about screwing this up....there is only ONE way to screw it up, and that is to put something in your mouth and set it on fire.  That gives you a whole lot of  things you can do which are not screwing it up....eat, laugh, cry, scream, exercise, rant, rave, sleep, long showers...anything that is not immoral or illegal.  You can do this!!

Welcome aboard, congrats on your decision and your 4 days - no 2 people are the same some crave and crave while others don't even think about it once they decide they are done. If it is an easy quit I think that just means you are over it and ready to move on - it is also great if that is the case as well. No one will want to shoot you we are just glad you are here. It doesn't matter when why or how you decide to quit the important thing is to not be afraid to look for help - there are amazing people on this train, which I am sure you already know after observing in the past. With that being said, stay close to the site and post as much as you like someone is always there to respond.

Hi Wendy :)

Congratulations on day 4! :)

Once I had made my mind up that smoking, nicotine addiction and wrinkles wasn't for me I had an easy quit and never looked back.

Easy quits can happen. Keep up the good work and enjoy every moment you don't have to smoke. :) If you feel you need extra support come straight to the board and reach out, we will give you cyber hugs :)

There are so many things for you to look forward to, new smells and tastes, better skin, better hair, better nails and a beautiful freedom that comes from never having to smoke again!

This is going too well ... too easy.  It's almost like I've just picked up where I left off last time, after 5 months of smoking again.  No major or even moderate craves, physical or mental ... a few thoughts of "oh I'll just have a ciggie and then I'll do ...." swiftly followed by "oh yeah ... ok i'll just get on with this then".

Welcome Wendy,

This is pretty much how my quit has been going. Once you have realized that you are not giving anything up, it all falls into place.

Just keep on shutting down those "thoughts". Don't give them any of your time, brush them off and go on with your non-smoking life.

Reading and posting here helped me so much in my first days. (Still does)

You are going to love life as a non-smoker :)

I'm late, but a big welcome from me as well Wendy!

Congrats on day 4! You are doing the best thing you could ever do for yourself.

And I'm with SanDar, it all falls into place:)

It's not always the easiest thing in the world for all of us, but any discomfort is fleeting. And small price to pay for getting your life back.

Thanks again all - this is really weird - your all like characters in a favourite novel I checked in with each week and now I've stepped through the looking glass and the characters are talking to me!

Haha, this is great :)

Hi Wendy sorry I missed this yesterday and welcome on board the QT, its great that you took the plunge and re-quit and you are sharing your journey with us, everyone has a different experience in their quit, and Im so pleased to see yours is going well, no-one will shoot you here believe me, we are all aiming for the same outcome, NOPE, its a simple as that, I relapsed too, and now realise it is a mindset, quite simply I am not a smoker any more, move on and move upwards, the only advice I would add to what has been given above is please if the addiction raises its head, DO NOT LISTEN, post on here, that was the mistake I made thinking ahhh one puff wont hurt.....xxx

Hi Wendy, late to the party.

I see Sandy answered you already, it sounded really similar to what she said :)  I wish an easy quit on everyone so no shooting from me lol.

Day 5 is fab news. I laughed at your child waiting for the bat shizzle, let's hope you can just plough through but some great advice given here was to use eternal vigilance against the addiction to nicotine. It's sly and as it's your own brain trying to catch you out - being careful is good. But not worrying, that's a waste of your time. Enjoy the free fall into freedom, just keep your wits about you if the thoughts creep in with their "just one" or "I could just quit again cause it was easy" kinda thoughts ya know.

Sounds like you have it nailed this time though, good work!! xx

ooh more welcomes and congrats - many thanks ladies ...

DevilDoll - "Non smokers will run faster in the zombie apocalypse" - what an excellent point!  You know the whole 2012, Mayan calendar end of the world thing? Well, my eldest and I were really hoping for a zombie apocalypse!  Is it wrong/weird that we were disappointed it didn't happen?

Hi, Wendy!  Just a couple of helpful hints...if you will use the "Quote" button when responding directly to someone, they will get a notification of your reply and know to come back to the thread and read.  Also if you would like a quit meter like many of us have in our signatures, instructions for several sites are below.  Again, so glad you are here!

You make your own ticker...If you want one similar my top one click on mine, it will take you to the Ticker Factory website. Click All Tickers on the right, and then Event under Wedding, Birthday, Anniversary, and you can choose your own wording, etc.   You enter your information and create your ticker.  Then, copy the address they give you.  Come back here and click on My Profile (in drop down by your name) and the click Edit Profile.  Select signature on the left side, and then paste the address in the signature box.  When you click Save Changes the ticker appears!

Just a note…The ticker doesn't always show up on the smartphone version of the posts, but you will be able to see it appear on the PC and tablet versions.

If you want one similar my bottom one go to

Tina's Quit Meter

Create your ticker, and instead of copying the address, right click on the ticker and Copy Image, and then come paste in signature box.  Lots of us have two tickers because we like the pretty top one, but like that the bottom one keeps track of the cigs we have not smoked and the money.  I hope this helps!

Another one that is popular comes from TickerClub.  Go there and choose the Smoking category.  Make your ticker, copy address, come back to Edit signature and paste address...when you click Save Changes your ticker will appear!

For one like the one above, just click on it and it will take you to the site.   Make your ticker, copy address, come back to Edit signature and paste address...when you click Save Changes your ticker will appear!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
