People tend to throw away quits on wkends/or while drinking. The addict in ALL of us prays for chances like this to tempt a person to smoke. Embrace the mantra NOPE-it will keep you cig free.

I have done my sos to myself and i will be back in the morning to do my daily pledge i will no drink any alcohol until i know in my heart of hearts i can do it with confidence. Thanks for all the advice i am truly grateful. I am also going to listen to my Allen carr audio but not smoke whilst listening to it. I can do this!!!

Great job, Laura! I read your pre-SOS and it's perfect! I love the part where you say that wanting a cigarette is "just a thought". How true that is! I'm so happy to see you say that you are sick of doing this to yourself and you are determined to quit for good this time. Hang in there, honey, and post here as often as you can. Remember, it will get easier and easier every day. I promise!

I'm so glad that I'm not really a drinker of alcoholic beverages on a regular basis.  I do not get that urge then to smoke while having a drink.

However, with that said, everyone has triggers that cause a craving for a cigarette.  I still get a strong crave, and suspect I will continue to get them, here and there.  I did find that my strongest craves are mostly during the weekends, which is weird to me as I don't believe I smoked any more or less on the weekends.  But, I just find something to do and get through them.  I do vape with no nicotine, and sometimes that helps.  Sometimes it doesn't matter what arsenal I have; a crave is a crave.  It goes away.

Laura, you certainly need to avoid the strongest triggers in the beginning to stay quit.  It is not like you will always have to stay away from that specific activity, but for the time being, I would.  Glad you picked yourself up, dusted yourself off, and got right back on the wagon.  Just remember that everybody can make a mistake, and the hardest thing to do is face the shame.  You will do fine.  Now, buck up sugar, you need to face this demon head on!  Don't let it get you.  You are stronger and in control.  Always remember that.

Allen Carr audible was a lifeline for me.  I could probably read it you word for word,* it was both a comfort and a shoe in the pants.  It was exactly what I needed to keep hearing to understand that I was missing out on NOTHING.

*Not really but you get my jist

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
