Hi!

I think we could build a list of each one´s reasons to stay smoke free and have it to read it when we need a reminder and strenght. Here are mine:

- Totally tired of being a slave of where and when I could smoke

- Too expensive!! I made an estimate and I lost around $8,600 (USD) in smoking and smoking related things

- Concerned about sencondhand smoke

- I want to set a good example for when I have kids

- Health, obviously. In my case, specially high blood pressure and lung cancer predisposition

- Prove myself I´m stronger than my addiction

-Tired of burning everything

- Hate the smell! How did I live smelling like that all day?

- I want more years to live and energy to live them

I hope you find this a good idea.

-Nat

- I want to spend more time with my wife

- I don't want to burn my moustache with my lighter! (damn the was annoying!)

- I like my increased circulation, in my fingers, my toes, my...

- I was ashamed to be a smoker

- I was spending far too much money on smoking - now I can spend it on nice things that don't kill me!

- I want to live!

- Never smelling like smoke. Trust me, you can smell a smoker from a mile away.

- Not having to hide anything from people. I was so embarrassed of my addiction.

- Not missing valuable time with my loved ones. I want to be able to spend as much time with them as possible because you never know what's going to happen.

- Being able to say I quit and truly meaning it this time. The sense of freedom and accomplishment is amazing.

- Not having to take my inhaler all the time or wake up with a morning cough.

These are just some of the benefits of not smoking. :)

I like this too....it's good to keep reminding ourselves why we are here....mine is simple really.....

-not to have both my feet sawn off by a surgeon....

I do believe the shock alone would have seen me off....

So to live a happy healthier life with my family with two feet is amazing....xx

This was my original list, it very quickly changed to include a whole wealth of benefits I hadn't considered.

-Broke my word to Milly TWICE saying I would quit and didn't
-I want to sing along to my songs I like
-My cough
-Mums health scares me
-Want to go out sometimes (money)
-Can't afford clothes and shoes which I need.
-Florida trip, going nowhere!
-£300 a month?!?
-Outside smoking
-2nd hand smoke for children
-We all smell, everything smells!
-To prove I can give up

- My health. I was scared that I was going to get a preventable disease.

- Good example for my kids.

-I was embarrassed to be a smoker.

-I'll get cheaper insurance.

-Live longer.

I know I have other reasons but those are the ones I thought of off the top of my head.

I also have reasons to stay quit(even when I don't feel like it) that I wasn't aware of until after I quit.

All these plus just plain tired of needing to smoke but not wanting to smoke. I need to be free of this stupid, endless cycle

Yeah, so easy to do .... I'm different. I can have just one then go back to not smoking. Look at how far I've come so what's the big deal. That Not One Puff Every stuff just applies to other people. I can have "just 1" then I'll be just fine.

That's the ever present Nico-addiction luring you back in. Don't listen to it!!

Why NOT to Smoke:

- Worked VERY hard to quit, never want to go through it again

- Want to be a healthy momma one day for future kidlets and increase our chances for babe's one day

- Want to exercise without my lungs being what stops me instead of my body

- Like to kiss my husband without having to brush my teeth, chew a mint or find gum first

- Like to smell nice and not worry about people at work catching a wiff of smokes

- It's too damn cold out

- I don't want to miss out on good conversation or activities with friends while being outside smoking by myself

- Want my family and friends to remain proud of me

- Want to remain proud of myself, and never ever feel guilty about my health one more day!

I hate smelling like an ashtray...even the next morning I can smell smoke in my hair

I really would prefer NOT to die of A cancer related death due to smoking

None of my friends smoke anymore, just me

I have COPD. It's not curable but it won't progress if I stop now

I hate sneaking out to have a smoke when my grandchildren are here...I'm not fooling them, just myself

I don't want my grandchildren to smoke. My kids don't.

I Don't Want To Smoke! It's a stupid habit

I want clean breath, clothes & hair...my hubby would enjoy that too

I don't want to worry about contacting a smoking related illness with each cigarette

I want to WIN! My trophy will look at me from the mirror everyday...a healthier me.

Smoke Free makes me feel good.

Smoke Free makes me smell good.

Smoke Free keeps my car clean........

Enjoying: Deep Breaths,Fresh Air, Exercise

I love not worrying where and when can I smoke.

Hated not being able to travel without the Nicodemon tugging at me. Listening to rain thinking oh dam need the umbrella to smoke. Then really stinking when I come in.

Way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on the list.

#457  Rather see the farmland, resources, research, and transportation that are involved in the tobacco industry be utilized toward something that is ultimately productive to society rather then this addictive poison.

#458  Reduce carbon emissions from all those people smoking.

#459  At a party where some people happen to "chew" I might accidentally pick up the wrong soda can only to discover in the worst way possible that it was being used as a spit can.  Hasn't happened yet, but just the thought....
