You know Natalie, if someone had told me at the beginning of the year I was going to be a non smoker...I would have laughed in their face....but 6 months down the track and yeah more that the odd temper tantrum, jekyll and Hyde moments and many many many hours of read on the forum....Here I am after 30 years of smoking a packet of 30's a day....FREE.....

Natalie you can do this....you don't need those cigarettes....there is NOTHING good about them...learn to hate them...they were killing you...try and embrace the freedom and let yourself accept the bad times because you will become stronger each time and the GOOD times will become more frequent....

I know these are only words from someone you don't know from a bar of soap....but it does get better....so much so you will feel like giving yourself a hug for your achievement.!!!!!!!

KTQ Natalie.....

Dors  :)

Your words are really valuable. Thank you!

Pippa does kick boxing!

Late to the party - and am hoping you are feeling better - but kick boxing and a punching bag is an awesome quit tool - you get to work out aggression a plus you would look really silly trying to smoke while wearing boxing gloves !

Like the others have said - take a bath, drink lots of water and maybe treat yourself with some candy ... Did someone say licorice !! You can get through this and it does get better ,, I promise !

You made me laugh picturing someone trying to light up with boxing gloves LOL.

I´m having a lollipop and I think I´ll take that nice bath and let you know how that works.

Thank you again!!

Natalie, you pulled yourself out of this panic. Yes, we gave you suggestions. Yes, we cheered you on. But YOU were only one who could make the choice to take steps to get your anxiety under control. You chose to hang on and ride the wave of the crave, and you told yourself N.O.P.E. Nobody else did that--you did! No, it wasn't fun, but now you KNOW what to do when the anxiety rears up and you KNOW that you can hang tough and you KNOW that the horrible feelings will pass. So now your quit is stronger than it was before this happened. Good for you! I'm so proud of you for posting an SOS and for your strength and determination!

I had to log off for a while to pick up my daughter and I was so happy to get back and see this thread still going and you still not smoking.  You got this kid and some of the best people I have ever met have your back.  You did exactly the right thing posting here instead of smoking.   Remember that you can't have just one because just one would never be enough.

xx, proud of you,  Keep marching forward.

Fear not! The Bandit is here!

Oh? 6 hours late you say. Ummmm. Right. Uhhh...Sorry.

Well done Nat.

We have all been where you are, sometimes a tiny little crave can become a full on, full-body, psycho crave and you hang on by your fingernails.

It is completely normal and it does not last long. Each time you beat one, you get stronger, and it gets weaker. When one comes, it is important not to allow it to take over, to slow down your heartbeat, relax. Let your rational mind engage with, then dismiss the crave.

You may not know it, but you won a huge victory last night.

'Atta girl Nat!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
