Hiya Stew!!  I know, I felt kind of lost as well for the past few days.  Even though we are non smokers, I guess we still need the support.

Gday

Know that feeling from when the old Quit smoking boards sank…. Never to be seen again. To have it happen again.
Kept checking and checking again and started to wonder if the Train would come back. So glad it did. Glad to see every one again

I think we need a plan in case we lose this site,

Some of us were on qsmb that crashed and burnt and we joined this site, Is there another similar site we could join if this one closes for good.

Not suggesting defecting just having a contingency plan agreed.

Hey @despair not, this did bring back nightmares of qsmb imploding and luckily Nancy told us about this site who took us all in. I don't know of another site like ours but MQ has assured us that the site isn't going anywhere. That said it never hurts to have a backup plan. I know @beazel is on another site but I can't remember the name of it. I had checked it out years ago and didn't like it but if that's all there is its better than nothing.

I'm glad the site is back too and the crash did make me think of the QSMB crash.

I did want to point out that if the site does crash, there is a QuitTrain page on Facebook and I was able to see that they were working on the site and that it was going to be back up at some point.  That would be a good resource in case of another crash but I do believe crashes are rare here, this one was just pretty long and unnerving.

Good to know there is a Quit Train FB page to check for updates and organize ourselves (ha ha) if necessary. I had forgotten that, so thanks for the reminder.

We're really lucky to have a site that ordinarily has almost zero downtime, and I'm super appreciative of all the behind-the-scenes work that must go into that. Especially for free, which makes a really important health and community service accessible to all.

To our lovely moderators and @MarylandQuitter: If there is anything the rest of us can do to contribute to site stability (pitch in for more storage space or server costs or whatever?) please let us know.

Having the site crash for a few days is a rather pointed reminder of how grateful I am for it!

I think we all feel the same denali! And many of us would gladly chip in if @MarylandQuitter needed it but he's always said no need to. We are truly blessed by his generosity....

This site and it's members are so wonderful and I am so glad to be a part of it!! 😀😍  What is the QSMB?  Is that another quit smoking message board? Last year when I was looking for a support forum I saw mostly ones in the UK and Australia, and they didn't seem very active at all. Then after searching a little more, I found the Train!  So glad I did!!!

Ohh yes that's how I found out the site was down and then back up from the Facebook page.  For a while there I didn't think it was going to come back but I'm so glad that it did! 😀

QT isn't going anywhere, that is for certain. The issue was getting a hold of someone to fix the issue. Thankfully, Rixcz responded to me, and it took him only 5-minutes to fix the issue. The person who I was using in Rixcz's absence wasn't pressed to make the fix, which is why it was down for those few days. Thankfully, in the decade that we've existed, this was only the second time that we went down. The first time had nothing to do with us. There have been planned outages for routine maintenance that lasted from a few minutes to several hours, depending on what needed to get done. This was the exception and Rixcz is available again to help out like had for the previous many years. :)

MQ and Rixcz…

Thank you for all the time and effort you have spent to help this wonderful train keep going to help ,all that take a seat to free themselves  of this  horrible killer addiction ..

If you’re on the fence …take a seat …you have nothing to lose …it’s the most wonderful feeling to be free ❤️

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
