To Sgt. Sausage:

Maybe it´s easy peasy for you, probably because you´re a non smoker since 2011. But I´m going trough a rough time. Not so easy.

It can be easy, or it can be hard.

You have a choice.

Ask folks who have been around - it's got nothing at all to do with "since 2011" ... other than it's been Easy Peasy the whole time.

Perspective.

If you're coming from the perspective of "woe is me, I'm having a hard time, this is difficult " ... well ... it will be.

If you're coming form the perspective of "this ain't so bad, I can handle it, Easy Peasy" ... well ... it will be.

It's all what you make of it, and you are making more of it that it has to be, and more than what it is.

Trust The Sarge.

He does not lie.

Easy Peasy

PS - did you at all read what The Sarge wrote in the earlier post? There's some very relevant, important stuff there.

You not only make something of your quit that does not have to be, you also make something of The Sarge that he is not.

Choices.

Both of them.

Easy Peasy

Hi Natalie,

I don't have answers to all your questions, as my quit is fairly new.

I can tell you that it really doesn't have to be hard to quit.

Have you read Alan Carr's book yet? The Easy Way to Quit Smoking? I can't remember whether you said you

had read it or not.

I have read it more than once. I have quit smoking more than once. This time was different because I FINALLY

realized that smoking does nothing for us. Not. one. single. thing.   Except relieve us of withdrawal from the last one we smoked.

Once I understood this, it made quitting soooo much easier. Oh I had a few uncomfortable moments, but that's about it.

Instead of "craving" a cigarette, I have thoughts of smoking. I smoked for so many years, there are bound to be memories.

I dismiss them, tell myself that I no longer am a slave to nicotine, and carry on.

I found that keeping busy the first few days was a real benefit. Made the time fly. I read everything I could here on this site and on whyquit.com

I read Alan Carr's book again. I also forced myself to get outside and walk my dogs, whether I felt like it or not. By the time I finished walking I felt better.

Keep posting here. There are no silly questions. There is a lot of knowledge here, so keep asking.

You can do this :)

I haven´t read the book, I saw an interview with him once. I´m glad you´re doing this too!

Yes, keeping myself busy has been one of the most popular advices and I´m trying to follow it  :)

Thanks!

Another big fan of the book. It made a lot of sense to me.

Keep on cracking on Nat - I am guessing Day 3 when you read this. Fantastic achievement! Well done.

Keep sipping that juice, sipping that water. Remember, ever crave is a sign that you are winning the war. Welcome them.

You are doing this Nat - Great work!

Sgt wont do any harm- follow his advice. He just speaks to the point with no rainbows or unicorns. He will not spout off mean but it can be read wrong. Try reading him like a person who don't waste words and smiling when he says it.

Action on the other hand is so nice and friendly I think he is the pimp around here (Plus the valour suit thing)  Watch him cause that silver tongue is a panty remover.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
