It is no secret here that I was a secret smoker.
I had Febreze stashed in my car.

Mints, gum, breath strips & sprays  spilled out of every pocket of my purse and clothing.

My hands aged prematurely from the constant hand washing.
You get the picture.

When asked for a ride from coworkers, family or friends that didn’t know my dirty secret addiction— extreme panic.   I’d make up some excuse why I needed to go alone.  Or I’d douse every fiber in my car with Febreze, Lysol, dryer sheets…I’d get  the microfiber cloth from my console and wipe everything down- no ashes to be seen!

What a stressful nightmare to be asked to give someone a ride!!! What!?!?!

Today I worked in the office. A coworker asked for a ride home.  I said “Sure!” and continued on with my work.  No laps around the block airing out my car, or flooding it with Febreze.

Oh sweet smoke-free  freedom how I love thee!!!  Seven years and counting feels & smells great!!

NOPE!

So many benefits to quitting. A lot of them we never even thought of when we first started our quits but years later they are the most cherished :)

One of the first treats I gave myself (with the money I saved from quitting) was having my car professionally cleaned.  The fresh smell helped to re-enforce my quit as I drove to and from work.  I could also open my windows without worrying about ashes flying everywhere.

Gday

Thanks for reminding!

Now that I think about it my current truck has never been smoked in!

Hasnt got an ashtray. Has a phone charger in the cig light slot.

And….. it’s perfectly normal.

How cool is that!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
