Nat I shuffled alot in the first few days and did a lot of sighing lol, and most of all I came on and read, read, posted, posted and read some more, never feel you are posting to much, always someone on even try chat, lots of drunken antics occur in there, but shhhhh that's a secret lol xxx

Nah, you can't post too much. Many days I'd look across the board and every post had my name :) Some people just go and do it, others need support.

If it helps to think another way, when someone supports you, they are validating their own quit (getting it straight and re-infoced in their own head). So actually, you posting has 3 wins, you have something to do and support, the person who responds makes a point which reinforces their quit and as a bonus some lurker or other non quit yet person may read it and take inspiration!

That´s ceirtanly a good approach!

I feel so groggy and... I don´t know how to explain it, like if any of this was real.

Really? It´s not annoying?

I feel silly posting every 5 minutes but it really helps...

You can never post too much- that is what this board is for - and it certainly isn't annoying. Distraction was key for me - so I basically lived at the gym - as it was a place I never smoked. I also consoled myself with a ton of licorice - so I think they kind of balanced themselves out a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

Sleep isn't a bad thing. :)

Agreed with everyone. Don't apologize for posting -- that's what this place is for! I have never once thought, "Geez, that person is posting too much. How annoying!" So you're fine. Post away!

Definitely keep yourself busy. I think that's what helped me get through the start of my quit. Read, bake, go for a walk, sleep, draw, scrapbook, knit, listen to music and dance/sing to it, post on QT, clean, etc. Your options are endless!

A surreal feeling? Bit of brain fog? Emotional swings?  All normal for some, for me they were a part of my early quit too. My solid and best advice is just to try really hard to distract yourself, by posting, cleaning, writing lists, dancing, ANY exercise. With each crave you get through you make this quit stronger. So the idea is to plough ahead without over thinking and deal with each scenario as it comes.

You used to stop a lot and take 5 minutes to top up your addiction so that time feels kinda aimless to start with and that's where having an idea in advance of what you could do will help you - rather then sit and dwell on the thoughts/craves/triggers...does that make any sense?

Your emotions are all over the place at the moment.....

Your body has to catch up....it's used to having a heap load of crap put in for years......

I used to talk to myself in the early days.....telling myself why I'm feeling the way I do....

It worked for me.....

After smoking 50 odd years ,my body was well shocked....

I just rode through whatever it threw at me.......and it threw a lot.......

Your doing great....keep coming and talking......xx

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
