For the last three or two weeks we have been suffering a heatwave here. I is not just the high temperatures, the worst is the humidity. You spend the whole day wet. It´s nice to be in an air-conditioned environment, but as soon as you step out... and walk 20 metres (to the next air-conditioned environment) you are soaked. The air is heavy. I can feel the pressure in my legs. I think I´m not fat, I have just expanded. I can´t sleep. I spend the night playing with the aircon remote and I go through the day like a zombie. I look terrible (no make up, no heels, frizzy hair). I feel terrible.

I´m blaming all this for the hardship of my quit lately.

I just want to feel well... I don´t want to smoke, but my junkie brain (my chimp) gives me that offering, the poor thing, thinking it will help me feel better...

It is hot. And it is hard.

Has anybody ever felt something like this... or is my brain just melting away?

( at least now I´m looking at excuses NOT to smoke, which is a nice change coming from me)

I sympathize with you, I am from Vegas where it can get too 112f easily and the air can be so oppressive you just say f it and stay inside. Your doing everything right, try to stay inside or by a pool. You can do your hair when it cools down in a bit. Best of luck in that heat, I do know it can be very uncomfortable, the good news is I always felt even worse smoking in it and I know you did too.

I can't help you with the heat Susana... it's freezing here to the point that we are wearing woolly jumpers and slippers, and seriously considering turn the heat on in August...!

Maybe you are looking for excuses... for instance, no way you look terrible (impossible), so get that out of your head!

Have you seen your ticket recently? 6 weeks is HUGE, but you will still experience some hard day's - getting through them will be easier and easier, but we are always here when you need us.

Here, have a (((hug))) ;)

I'm pleased to see you post, it's when we let these little thoughts take hold and grow they become too big to manage. Exactly right to say this feels hard. Remember certain countries used sleep loss as a form of torture! Sleep matters so I'm pleased you'll start getting some if your weather calms enough now. Rest up Susana and just bat those thoughts straight back out where you can. xx

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
