WTH is with today? I had some of the biggest craves today. It’s been super stressful at the shop, that I own w hubs, and I wanted to shoot him, me, quickbooks reps, him again, etc. I could not believe the stress, not only today but this whole month.  It’s also the 2nd year of my dad passing, first Christmas season without cigs so I get it but damn.  I literally yelled out that I’m buying cigarettes today and that that’s it 😳. Idk what’s going on but I want off

@Brioski, don't you dare buy any smokes! What your going through is normal, especially during the holidays with that added stress so just hang on and it WILL pass! I promise!

Give yourself a free pass to yell at hubby as needed if that works. Eat a snack to keep your hands busy. Also doing something that makes you have to think works good to get your mind on something else. And if all else fails, just go to bed and hopefully tomorrow will be better

Glad you came here to vent instead of store that sells those coffin nails! We get it that sh*t can really build up and push you to the limit and then on top of all that is the stress  of the season as things quickly ramp up during our times of celebration. The thing is ... what remain constant and true always is that smoking never helps anything!

We all have to always keep that one simple fact in mind ongoing. Glad you were able to do that today. Be kind to yourself over this season and cut yourself some slack. The best thing you can show your family & friends is a relaxed, smoke-free you!

Sounds like you are having a super crappy day, my dear!

I had a similar experience not long ago… something at work went horribly sideways and I was furious about how I was treated. I shouted to my partner, “I want a f—ing smoke!!” And oddly felt better after saying it aloud. Addiction thrives in brooding silence and compressed feelings. Sunshine and truth telling are the very best disinfectants.

So shout, cuss, let off steam any way you need to… anything but lighting up. “This too shall pass.”

Bri, sorry for your tough day. The crap out of the blue is the worst, and stress is always a nasty culprit that will test anyone's quit.

Great job coming here to the quit friends and getting the help you needed, and also supply to others!!

Kick some ass through the holidays and you will be standing on top of that infamous year mountain....

Strange issue today for myself also... At my shop just cleaning up oddball equipment and just natural organization when I reached to my pocket where I used to carry smokes like I had never quit?? The thought was immediate, like where are they? It took a few seconds to really slow it down then the crave said well what are you waiting for!! Back and forth for a few minutes until I got a call then just went on like it had never happened. Sneaky sumbitch.

The addiction is always looking for the "in" to destroy our quit's. As you know the only way out is time and distractions.

The 2023 Quit Crew needs to stick together.

I know Bri it is so difficult sometimes but please hang in there, you are doing so great!!! And, as we all have said, smoking again won't help with anything.  They won't solve problems, won't fix damaged cars, they won't solve anything, they just make things worse.  Hang in there we are all with you!!🥰

I’m sorry that you are having such a rough time Bri. I hope that things are at least a little better today?
I spoke with someone a while back that would grab her phone and record herself saying I want/need a cigarette because—— and then she would try to list 5 things the cigarette would do for her and then she would go back and listen to it. She ALWAYS hated how she sounded. Needy, ridiculous, ignorant. She’d be so embarrassed for herself. This exercise gave her what she needed to reground herself in her quit and go on. I thought it a wonderful idea and if I ever feel like I’m going to cave to a crave I will try it.
I do hope that today is a better day. 🤗

By the way Bri, next time Dor tells you to scream maybe tame it down a little.

I am on the other side of the country and had to cover my ears....263930164_smiley1.png.216f564cbd5280c2d8803e03d2715817.png

Hey guys I’m ok, I read all of your sweet replies, thank you. I like knew I wasn’t going to buy them but past few days have been major craves. Idk. It’s just that time of year I guess, my first w/o smokes. Sorry was busy all weekend, working, fam-in-law Xmas party, now back to work. Shop has been crazy busy, working 6 days a week, 10+ hour days. Just in the dumps lol. Also Xmas doesn’t feel the same since my dad passed.
im ok though, keeping this quit for now lol hopefully forever. Thank u again friends!!

Everything you do, smokefree, is going to be a bit rough until you get used to doing those things without smokes.  Sadly, that includes holidays.

Great job grinding through the season.

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
