So it's Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. today and we have a number of 1st year quitters from that neck of the woods. For those who've never been through a Thanksgiving as a non-smoker, just bear in mind there will almost assuredly be triggers to smoke for you on this day.

Thanksgiving is a great day of gathering with family/friends and along with the festivities you may also experience everything from happy times to tension or anxiety. That combined with indulging in a great meal and perhaps some alcohol as well can bring about those mental triggers. If you bear that in mind before hand, you won't be taken be surprise when it happens.

Hope you all have a joyous 'smoke-free' holiday!!

It was definitely less crav-y than I anticipated.  My stepdad who we typically bumps heads and fight lol made a speech about how I overcame addiction and was congratulatory that I was free, first year they didn’t have to put ashtrays out on the back deck etc.  It was surprising, he used to smoke too, and my mom used to too. It was very stressful today w a bunch of stuff but it wasn’t crazy w craves. I did yell out in my car once that I wanted an effing cigarette but it went as quickly as it frustratingly came on so.
Happy Thanksgiving friends 🦃

How cool @Brioski, that shows you how proud they are of you for quitting ☺.  I'm glad your first Thanksgiving quit went so well ☺ 🤗

I actually didn't have many cravings that day thankfully.  Maybe cause I was so busy cooking and getting things ready that I didn't think about it.  I hope you all who celebrate the holiday, had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 😁

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
