Canada Now Requires Warning Labels on Individual Cigarettes

Recommended Posts

As of August 1st, Canada began it's multi-stage introduction of requiring warning about the dangers of smoking on each individual cigarette. This is a first worldwide.

The program will roll out over the next year or so starting with king-size cigarettes then later on to regular size cigs. In addition to the new individual warnings, there will be new warnings on packs and in packs as well.

I'm not clear how imported cigarettes will be handled. Haven't been able to find clarification on that. From some images I've seen, the short 2 or 3 word warnings are printed on the paper that surrounds the filter portion of the cigarettes. Not sure what is done with unfiltered cigarettes - do they even still sell unfiltered cigs? Wow! I'm so out of touch with the cigarette industry (I suppose that's a good thing?)
