Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum, I joined just a few weeks ago.  Is there just a regular chat, you know, like talk about anything?  Today, I want to know how all of you on the East Coast of North America, (USA and Canada) are doing because there are terrible wildfires in Canada, and here in NYC, where I live, it's been really bad.  About 1.30/2PM EST the sky looked orange, almost like Armageddon😲, but after about an hour it's like a grey color.  The sun looks like it wants to come out a bit.  Hopefully it will.  Anyway, I hope all Canadians and Americans are doing well, hopefully the fires in Canada will end soon!

Anyway, are there forums for just regular chatting, like how's the weather, I'm going on vacation, my son is graduating from high school/college, Etc.  Is this the right place? If not, please tell me, because I'm looking to have a chat forum, because it keeps my mind off of smoking!  Thanks! 😃

You're in the right forum @Sandi149 for all things social, suitable for all ages I should say lol.

We also have our Off the Record Forum which is for our more R rated topics like some of our jokes tend to be lol.

@Sandi149 I can tell you that in the Raleigh, NC area, it has been a haze today.  I haven't noticed it before but it looked pretty bad today and I could actually feel it was hard to breathe.  I do hope things improve soon, although it still felt better than when I was smoking.  The atmosphere today brought me back to when I smoked.

Jillar is right, this forum, and the "Off The Record" forum (if you are adventurous) are good places for random banter.

Posting about songs, movies, and playing the games always are appreciated.  It helped me early on.

I liked your  "Songs of Yesterday" post.  Your contributions are welcome here.

Yeah I guess it got way down there in NC! Now it's not so bad like around 1.30/2PM...hopefully the fires will be put out

Hey, Sandi. Here in Maryland the smoke is still visible as a haze this evening, though it’s not as bad as it was earlier today. Many outdoor activities were canceled, air quality was “code red” (stay indoors if you have any health issues), and some people were masking up again. I grew up with wildfires in interior Alaska… lightning would strike and millions of acres would burn.  But I’ve never seen this kind of smoke since moving to the east coast. Definitely hoping for some relief for our Canadian neighbors soon, and everyone else downwind!

I sort of figured you were from Alaska, being that your Username is DenaliBlues.  I've never been to Alaska, but I have watched many shows that take place there, including some that  go way up to Prudhoe Bay!

As of a few hours ago, it wasn't that bad!!  Growing up in Alaska must have been so nice!!  Does it ever get warm there, even in the end of June/beginning of July?

It is definitely crazy here in north jersey!! It’s visibly smoky, hazy, the sun was a weird color, and as I said in the other thread it definitely smells like a campfire (or a little like a church smell when they do the smoke thing lol). It seems post-apocalyptic and like terminators are coming out soon lol. They said the air quality is poor/“very poor” depending on where you look.  I hope everyone stays safe and breathing well!!  It would definitely suck for someone who smokes 🙁

Hope everyone’s well!! Watching the Vanderpump Rules reunion part three in t-minus 23 mins 😂

Sure, although the farther north you go the cooler things get. It’s a land of extremes. I remember July days that were nearly 90 degrees, and also February days that were 68 below zero. Never a dull moment!

And yes, it was a wonderful place to grow up. I often get homesick. But I feel blessed and lucky to have come from such a special homeland.
