Refugee from another planet

It's wild to come here and find so many people I was getting to know in another world...

I'm whackamole, recently hounded off the Q**B, and I'm really happy to be here! I use Champix, and it's helped keep me quit for just over a month. Am feeling pretty good, pretty strong... have almost no cravings at all except when I picture sitting in a NOLA bar. So, I have to not picture sitting in a NOLA bar. Seems doable.

Apparently, I have some disturbing ideas that screw with the minds of newbies. I like to think about stuff, is all. What I don't like is Allen Carr (heh heh) or any kind of rote fanaticism.

I want to support all you guys the best I can. Smoking was part of me for almost 40 years, so I'm learning to be a (slightly) different person. I guess that's what we all have to do, huh?

Thanks. This already feels like home.

Welcome :)   I used Chantix too and it really helped.  You'll find all kinds of different quit methods in use here and all are supported in their efforts to quit.  Quitting is the point here.  Not drama.

The owner of this board has been giving away Allen Carr books.  I'm guessing you won't want one?  hahahahahaha

Welcome! I am also using Chantix. It has been a real help. Finding this board has been a godsend!

Here I didn't have to be afraid to admit that my previous quit attempts failed.

Although my quit has been pretty smooth sailing, if I hit a bump in the road the Quit Train folks are here for me.

I just know you'll love it here :)

Thanks for bringing your balloons along for celebrations :)

Welcome, whackamole!  Glad you found us.  I used Wellbutrin XL and it took me ~3 weeks or so before I went off of it.  It did it's mysterious trick and made me nauseous to smoke.  Made me very, very irritable though and I couldn't even stand to be around myself.  lol  It work and although I told my doctor I didn't want it, I'm glad I took his advice and tried it.

The most challenging part about staying quit is letting ourselves enjoy everything that we did as smokers, as non-smokers.  I've been thinking about this for days now because a lot of members have been having these issues.  Not cravings per se, but triggers that can lead to them.

Glad to have ya on the train!  :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
