I have a friend, y'all may have heard me talk about her.  I call her Puffy on here.  Well she started to quit smoking back in December.  She would smoke one here and there but for the most part, she had quit.  Now she has gone about 4 months completely smoke free.

But today, she had a tough day at work.  And she posted that she reeeeaaalllly wanted to smoke on Facebook.  Of course, I responded and told her not to.  But about an hour later, she called me and confessed.  She gave in and smoked half a cig.  And she talked about how nasty it tasted.

I wonder if she woke the beast back up.  The next few days are gonna be interesting.

But in all of this...... it made my committment that much stronger.  I don't judge her.  But listening to her talk about how much she didn't like it....... I asked her if it helped her.  She said for about 5 minutes.  That 5 minutes isnt worth the chance of a full fledged relapse.

I'm so happy I'm doing this.  I feel so good.

And I actually have grown to love my quit.

Tiffany girl I am so proud of you!  You are rocking this quit!

Not all days of a quit are perfect, but they are all so much better than not being quit at all.  I love it when a quitter reaches the point that they like not smoking more than they liked smoking.  That's the key to the puzzle!  Once you want it, it's yours! xx

Oh and I'm glad you didn't smoke ( like I thought when I read the title of this thread) because I would have been on the next flight out to kick your Arse!!!

I can understand the want to smoke after having a really bad day; however we all have to face those bad day's and you just have to be solid with your quit to get through it.  I had a very rough weekend with a sick dog, and I had an anxiety attack on Saturday morning and wanted to smoke to bad; but I didn't.  I did not go buy cigarettes, I do not have cigarettes in my house, and I just kept pushing that crave and those feelings away.  Instead, I got on the phone and called my husband (who was out of town at an event) and he talked to me and calmed me down.  That helped more than a cigarette could have, and it lasted the rest of the weekend.  A cigarette could not have done that.

You got to love your quit Tiff - that way you don't want to do anything to hurt it!

I'm sorry for your friend, but I'm glad it reenforced your quit!

It will be interesting to know what happens to your friend. I hope she won't start smoking again. And yeah, I think all of us who tried to quit previously know that feeling when you relapse. It's horrible. I don't want to go through that again.

This is the saddest part about relapse.....as soon as you smoked that first puff, you are so sorry you did it,and be devastated

It's a dangerous game to play , to just see if you can take a puff and then leave it alone.....

You have woken up that sleeping monster....

Guard your quit tightly tiff like a infant.....don't let anything come in the way.....

I watch my best friend still smoke all day of everyday.....I fear she will never quit.....

Hugs x

You will NEVER see me post about a relapse again. Cause that day isn't gonna happen.

Besides I don't like getting my arse kicked. Spanked maybe, but definitely not kicked. lol

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
