Good plan! Jumping jacks. Wall/counter top pushups. Walks around the block. Speed-weeding the flower beds. Shadow boxing. Private dance party. Downward facing dog, with dog. Running around the house dragging yarn for the cats to chase. Whatever it takes! You can do this!

Great ideas!  It comes in waves..I may try the yarn with my dog!

Hang in there what ever it takes, you are no longer a slave to nicotine, believe it!

After today you have no more nicotine in your system.

It's such a great feeling to think I could be free again. I hope this is it for me!

You deserve 3 laffy taffies girl!! One thing I had to be reminded of, still do, is to reward yourself for these moments. It really is important.  Hubs brought home this black raspberry ice cream gelato thing and oh. mah. gawd.  it was to die for. Prob best ice cream I’ve ever had. I told him to hide it in the freezer bc I’m trying to cut down w sugar and carbs 😂

You go girl you’re literally changing your life for the better. ❤️

Well tomorrow is another day I guess. It didn’t go as planned but I’ve been reading a ton of posts here and Allen Carr again. It’s funny how I feel so I powered in the evenings lol!

What is the difference between daytime and evening for you as far as activity? For me boredom is a huge trigger. And is the forum more active at night? I'm only on here at night. Staying close helps me, and has helped in the past. I was ambivalent about stopping for months.

I’m not sure! My mornings/days are more active. My evenings tend to be really pretty low key now that my kids are older. You would think evenings would be my heaviest smoking times, huh? I’m actually a closet smoker, although I’m not kidding myself that my family is not well aware. I’m seeing my smoking routine is driven a lot by “better have one now because I don’t know when I will be able to have another”. Somehow I don’t get that urgency during the evenings.

Closet smoking ..

What a way to spend every day ..

On tender hooks.. nerves shot, always waiting for that precious moment you can have your fix

This is agony..

Quitting is not as hard as this ..

Once you have made that decision never to smoke again ..ever .

It becomes easier ..

What have you got to lose to try,

Nothing

But you can gain so much ..

Wow I never thought of it like that but you are so right!! I think that’s why I smoke in “spurts”. I sometimes cram 2, 3, 4 into a short period of time but then can go 4 hours ”fairly” easily without one when the situation won’t allow it (of course as soon as I know smoking will be an option soon I start to crave).

Anyway, today I’ve so far put it off for a bit over 3 hours. The cravings are kind of one on top of the other.

Omg. Had half last night.  None today, and have none left.  Maybe a blip. What a wreck.

It was just a blip. Did you enjoy it? I’m thinking it probably wasn’t great. Clearly am no expert quitter but I sort think you just accept that you did it and keep moving forward. You know you can go without and that is/can be empowering! Do not beat yourself up! From everything I’ve read in your posts you are clearly stronger than you ever thought you were!

@LeapOfFaiththank you for this, I'm  hoping just a blip. Couldn't really enjoy it because of the guilt 😞

That damn guilt!!! How have you been today? I was able to go the 4 hours from waking up before smoking and have had 2 since. I know weaning isn’t promoted as a quit strategy but I am looking at it more as an opportunity to train myself to conquer cravings.

When I did the weaning and was down to 2 a day, I thought I could keep it at that but the cravings were worse than when I actually gave up the smokes.  I felt like I was in constant withdrawal all day long, looking for that next cigarette.  IMO, it won't help you conquer your cravings at all, you will just be in a constant withdrawal all day long like I was.

Hey @robin0212. Sorry to hear that you smoked last night. But good for you for jumping back on the Train today! I know so well what that crummy, squirmy guilt feels like. You can be free of it once and for all by getting back on track and giving yourself the gift of not smoking!

Did not smoke today. I absolutely do not recommend weaning. When I quit the first time I tried to wean. Never worked. I tried the gum, decided I didn't want to have to get off the nicotine and just quit. It lasted over 2 years and I have felt awful since going back.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
