Here they come again...

the friends from Madrid. The chimney friends ...

My friend turns 61 so we are throwing a surprise´ish party at my house. My ex is here helping me, puffing away at leisure. Two more arrive at 6.30pm, and the rest tomorrow...

Tomorrow night I´m entertaining around 14 people, some of which I´ve never met (I bet they smoke too). We have a bbq (more smoke).

It is going to be fun.

It is going to be fun.

It is going to be fun.

It´s going to be fun.

Please repeat with me... it´s going to be fun.

I´m telling because I´m fretting, and in my experience, the more I fret, the more I preempt, and the more I tell and make a fuss about it... the easier it actually is when it happens.

So there you go. Please repeat with me.

It is going to be fun.

Ok, here's what your inner junkie is trying to do - create a scenario where if it's pants you can smoke.

Here's our new plan, you know I love a list.....  Add to it Sus and others!

1) You could go for a walk if their idiots.

2) Come online here

3) Mention to a friend at the party the reason you guys are ex's is an inability to "take care" of a women (and leave it open to interpretation)

4) Throw the mother of all tantrums and throw everyone out of your house

5) Pass out drunk

6) Find a cute guy and while away some time, exercise is good after all

Loads of options!! Smoking isn't one of em. You'll be cool :)

PS don't smoke, I put your one month date in the calender and I'll be pissed if I have to change the date ;)

PPS It might be fun!!

NOPE that's all you have to say, its going to fun and it will be even more fun why......because you don't smoke, the more you allow the idea of smoking to enter your head it will try and take over, concentrate on the BBQ, circulate, chat, sing, dance, and before you know it party over and you didn't smoke why because we believe in you and you believe in yourself, no doubts, HAVE FUN xxx

And off they went...

As always, the preparation was worse than the actual thing.

Only my friend and my ex smoked. The rest were never-smokers. And the two people I had never met before, were actually ex-smokers.

I love meeting ex-smokers. It´s like meeting somebody from your own loony religion. They un-ders-tand ;-). Great!.

Knackered now. And I have to work tomorrow. And the house is covered in..... muck? I don´t even know what it is... a mix of candle wax, cat fur, dog fur, sand, wrapping paper... I´ll sort it out tomorrow...

Next lot comes next Thrusday (another smoker) and then the following weekend I go to Malaga with my first smoker friend...

And I have to work in between....

Don´t worry... even if I had any intention to smoke, I wouldn´t have time to do it ;-)

Life is great!

And I´m great too.... about two sizes greater, but that´s for another thread, for another time...

This is great Susana,

Over thinking things ,can sometimes be our worst enemy....you thought you would be surrounded by smokers, and it was the opposite...

This is brilliant.....

Plus you knew you didn't want to smoke anyway....

well done sweetheart......

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
