Had a fabulous day at Glasgow Green, soaking up the wonderful atmosphere of the Commenwealth Games, actually stood and participated in a Commenwealth event, Time Trials, I stood there clapping had no idea what I was clapping for but hey I was clapping.  Went into a healthier living tent and saw a     SMOKERS LUNG    , now if you were thinking about quitting or struggling with your quit, seeing a smokers lung beside a healthy lung would make you realise that stopping smoking was a very very very good thing, did you know after quitting smoking every minute you are a non smoker helps your lungs to heal back to full capacity.  Everyone there congratulated me on my quit (I think I actually puffed my chest up at this point)  I am proud and so glad that today I am a non smoker.  It felt amazing and fantastic to be able to say Yes I quit, and I will never be a smoker again.

Sounds fabulous, and always nice to have validation of why we quit :)

Sounds like a great memory to take away with you from a good day.

But if you saw my "tar in 400 cigarettes" video... obviously this is what tar does... once down there it is not going anywhere. It is not a shot of tequila that you can vomit. Once down there.... it is not going anywhere.

Jackie, enjoy your happiness and your luck. We are the lucky ones. Because we thought about it, we started it, we happened to find the right tools (one of which is definitely this board), and we finally quit.

It is amazing how very early on we can feel our lungs heal. No more coughing, no more wheezing... I´d love to see what an ex-smoker lung looks like... at 1 monht, at 1 year, at 10 years....

Enjoy the games and the Glasgowian hospitality! And amaze them with your almost-7-months !!!!!

Isn't it the best when you tell someone you quit and you can see that they are really happy for you :)

Glad you had a great day, and hope that the weather was as good up there as it was down here ;)

That is awesome Jackie! You should absolutely puff your chest up when you are being congratulated, you deserve it! :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
