I was doing great and thought I would be ditching the gum this weekend.

Well, I had a friend for lunch. She is one of my best friends, super-healthy, non-smoker, vegetarian, intelligent, rich... but hyperactive. VERY hyperactive. (What is the opposite of "calming"?)

We were supposed to go to the bars tonight, but I´m not going anywhere. I am craving and I don´t want to be anywhere near cigarettes tonight. No way.

So I have opened a bottle of wine, and I have 3 gums left. Oh what a night! :-)

You got this Susana...

Until you feel comfortable around triggers, its best to avoid them!..

Use tonight to strengthen your quit...you ARE stronger than it is...you can and did tell it no!

There are no rules...do whatever is necessary to wake up in the morning as a non-smoker...

1/2 the battle is recognizing it..you already know what may happen, so there is no reason you cant make the night end the way you want it to  :)

I am firmly assured that I DO NOT WISH TO SMOKE EVER EVER AGAIN. But I´m afraid that I may have one mojito too many and lose grip.

So, here I stay. I should have posted this in "social" because it may be a long night...

I remember... one night I relapsed... not because I was drinking or drunk... because I didn´t care for my quit, so I threw it away...like that. It did sound like a good idea at the time, so maybe I was a little drunk after all.

Then in the morning I woke up... "bloody smoking dreams".... "hmmmm... I can even taste smoke".

It´s 2am and I´m going to bed now... thinking "oh, I´m fine, I should have gone out after all"

noooooooo!

Better to miss one night out than to risk ruining my quit.

Thank you for bearing with me!

A nice song to wish you good night, my friends :give_heart:

Sorry I was chilling with no computer on :(

How fab are you though!!!  Totally spot on decision, protect the quit at ALL costs. Treat it like an infant baby, at first it needs constant vigilance and then it grows some independence and gets easier to work with :)

So proud of you!!  And happy for you.  Every time you acknowledge a trigger or crave and deal with it you teach the addiction part of your brain that you're done now.

Makes me smile to see all these turning corner updates, love it!! :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
