not like a bad lost, but just kinda like..... hmmm, what do I do now ?  Like tonight.  Right now, I would be sitting out on the front deck smoking a cigarette, enjoying the sun setting while having a territorial war with about 50,000 mosquitoes.

And now, I don't want to go outside.  But I don't know what I want to do either.

Is this what y'all mean when y'all say that one can truly just relax as a non smoker ?  This is nice.  and kinda weird.

I guess I'll take F'ugly for a walk.  He will like that.

I know what you mean, it was like trying to re-learn so many things for me.

The good news is, that part doesn't last long and soon I was wondering how in the world I ever found the time to smoke before.

I use to pace, literally I just paced back and forth.  Honestly, I just didn't know what to do with myself.  Moving around helped a lot, so I started riding my bike.  It helped a lot.

Sometimes I just go out in the garden, bring a beer, take a seat, and just do... Nothing. It's exactly the same that I did before minus the cigarette, and I love it ;)

Totally get where you're coming from. I was utterly weirded out by what I should do when I would have been smoking. You just gradually replace it with normal activities, ie exercise, cleaning, etc. Like I used to get up and smoke with my tea, now I make packed lunches first thing. You just end up getting new habits and actually learning to relax on your downtime. x

Great! It isn't just me then! I was thinking the exact same thing a few nights back, so I thought of something. I have an app on my phone that tracks how much money I've saved and how many cigs I haven't smoked since I quit. It also keeps track of the time you have saved, i think it goes by like 5 minutes per smoke that you didn't have. I looked at it and realized I apparently had saved over 8 hours of time by not smoking for three or four days. I thought, "Well, that explains why I feel lost a lot of the time." So, I made a little deal with myself. For all the time I save, I treat it as a bank. The last three nights, I was able to duck out of the house and go for a run, and one day, a nice long bike ride. Since I don't stop to smoke now, i'm getting a lot of projects done that I have put off for a long time, and I still have all this extra time left over. Time that was once wasted by smoking is now being used to get ahead.

Nothing wrong with how you are feeling. Totally a normal!

You have stopped doing something that you liked to do and now looking to fill the void.

You will find something to replace it with, going for a healthy walk is good or maybe

eventually sitting on the front deck again and having a glass of wine thinking about the future and not the smoking past!

Lots of other smoking voids to be replaced too!

Keep looking forward and do not look back and you will be fine!

I'm almost always lost...nothing to do with cigarettes though...just dopey

For the first couple of weeks - my poor dog got his legs walked off...

Now, I wonder where I found the time to smoke.

Boy....did I feel lost.....

I felt like someone had stole my dummy, that I had been sucking on for 52 years....

Some days I did just amble about screaming n.o.p.e.....

The only time I get agitated now.....is when I think of how long this numpty took to quit....

I'm lovin the new smoke me.......

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
