I am on day 1 again, I smoked one cigarette at work last night.

I'm sorry to hear that @nicotine_free   The best thing to do is start the quit again.  Glad you are doing that.

Reach out to the board if you are about to smoke.  Support does help a lot.  Quitting smoking for good is very doable and worth the early struggles.

The fact is that I have a very difficult time when I'm at work.

That is when you reach out to us and post an SOS. We've been through those tough times and can help you realize that you can get past them too. PLUS once you DO get past it it becomes easier the next time. Who wouldn't want that right?!

What everyone else said.

We all have those "special" places (and spaces) that are our relapse triggers. If we didn't, quitting would be easy and its just not.

We are addicts. Nicotine has been our go-to to handle all of life's emotions, many of us for decades.

The more practice we have dealing with tough situations WITHOUT SMOKING, the easier our life smoke-free becomes. And, in truth, smoking actually makes those tough situations far worse.

This is a deadly addiction-there is no way out other than death. I, for one, am not ready to cash it in today and I do like my life more now that I do not smoke.

Aww...Blimey ...ok...that said ....

Lets get this done ....When I was early in my quit ...I was told ....

Take Smoking Off The Table No Matter What ....my junkie mind got this ...whatever was happening

around me ..smoking was not a option ...make that decision....and stick to it ...

We all know you can do it !!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your relapse Nicotine-free. The plus here is that you are brave enough to admit your mistake. Also, starting your quit over again is smart and courageous. You can't do this. Just believe and have faith in yourself.

Sorry to hear you smoked but encouraged that you came forward and decided to get back on track. We all have our bumps on the quit. Work, stress, worry, relationships, heath concerns, etc. that lead us back to that junkie in our brain telling us that you need to smoke and somehow that will make you feel better. Perhaps, for a moment and then you think what you have tossed aside ( a 30 day quit in your case that is a great start to kicking the habit) for a moments pleasure. S.O.S next time and keep hanging in their. It is the junkie in your head telling you to smoke. Your body is free of the nicotine by 30 days. Best wishes and stay close  to the board. Help can be had at these times in the future.

When I relapsed I was at work and didn't have the internet to post an sos. Yesterday was a hard day, lots of cravings, today seems a bit better. Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment.

Hope you got rid of the cigarettes. Glad you are back to quitting.

Do you have a plan for the "work" cravings?

It's your tough spot, so figure out something that will work for you - you can do it - you are strong enough!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
