So, there is a lot of discussion about triggers, or things that remind you of smoking.

But there are also not smoking triggers.

When I quit smoking, one of the first things I bought for myself as a reward (huge sale was going on, matter of fact Babs I think I was talking to you in chat when I was shopping online for this) was B&BW 'Venice Dolce Berry.'

The scent now reminds me of hope (hope for the hopeless - me).

I always thought that I was just one of those people that couldn't get away from it.  I thought I was destined to die a horrible smoking related death.  Once I got it through my thick skull that pretty much everyone who uses nicotine gets addicted - and it wasn't just that I had an addictive personality - I started to let go of the bad stuff and put my obsession with smoking behind me.

It's amazing the amount of us who said we had "addictive personalities" rather than we were effectively addicted to one drug. Crazy. Love the going out smelling of hope :) xx

I did too.  I thought I was never going to quit.  I also felt like I was never going to grow old, or get sick, and that I would remain invincible.  I was sooo mad when I ended up in the cardiac unit of the hospital! It ruined this perception! Quitting smoking is my way of fighting back.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
