OK first International act..... Me (16) and at least 75,000 of my nearest and dearest (but some estimates have it at 100,000)... at a race track in the middle of nowhere... on a day that was 39.7C (+103F).... but included massive wind/dust storm, thunder, lightening, and rain that came down in buckets with a temp that dropped 20C in 15 minutes (63F temp drop)... the main act was delayed over an hour because a speaker stand caught fire... and during the course of the day over 3000 were treated for weather related issues ... 1 1/2 hour queue to use the dunny.... that was 1 Feb 1993 ... Skid Row were a brilliant support act but the band we were there to see .... at the worst venue on earth (there was even an investigation into the concert cos of all the issues).... but we were there for these fellas:

BEST FVCKIN DAY OUT EVER!!!!!!!!

I saw them same year at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island...they were 3 hours late....we were being given a blow by blow description of the supposed reasons why they were late....traffic, helicopter issues, blah, blah, blah...very unprofessional. The opening act...(Skid Row also!) started doing cover songs after their initial set to keep the audience there......half the stadium started booing and stomping their feet and then leaving. My husband and I set a time and decided if they weren't on stage by then.....out we go! Lucky for us, they got there just in time before we walked out. Even though their show was incredible, I swore they would never get another dime from me and they didn't!

OK so I was going to post Johnny Farnham singing Bridge Over Troubled Water for my Dad's 70th birthday but NOPE ... here's a song Grandma used to sing the chorus of to him... with her own little words, because he is always late... so much so my cousins give him wedding invites with the wrong times on and he will still get there late.... so to my dad Mick....happy birthday..

So while she might be turnin in her grave that its not Bing I needed to hear a chick sing one of the only two 'lullabies' we got to hear that weren't IRA protest ballads... so it was this or When Irish Eyes Are Smiling... now considering both her parents were born here not sure how she had such ties to Ireland but to the Aussiest "Irish" Grandma on earth, thank you for always being there for me until you weren't, the hole you left will never be filled but happy birthday BOB, miss you every day.

So this is a great Melbourne band, they were awesome live and did the best pub gigs... lots of their songs are Melbourne centric and talk about landmarks or suburbs or traditions... this one though, they did a video clip for and they filmed where I grew up... I spent all my spare time with my mates on this pier, at the kiosk for fiddy cents you could get a Sonny Boy and either 5 cobbers or 10 fizzos....or you could pool your money and share a $1 minimum chips and get something else with the change... I fished off this pier, I dived off it, swam there and just had a ball...

Well 11-18th August 2018 is Elvis Week... truly, he gets a whole week... my dad was very excited when I told him and got out al his Elvis "Vds" (not sure if he thinks its funny to drop the d in dvd or if he just doesn't get it) so he could have a week long movie marathon.... so for the week I will be posting 1 Elvis song a day... but I'm opting for Elvis covers seeing as I had a traumatic experience as a teen involving a bottle of vodka, a high cousin and an Elvis mural taking up an entire bedroom wall telling me to follow my dreams that i swear the eyes were following s around the room... scary shit....

During my recent move, I found a box full of CDs that I had forgotten about.  Found Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise debut, self-titled album in there.  Loved that album back in the day and it still stands the test of time over 20 years later.

And one more...

Here's one that I would consider a prerequisite for a playlist of Elvis covers.  I've probably already mentioned this but...Margo Timmins is one of my favorite singers of all time.
