This is not only a great song but also a powerful portrayal of history in that part of the world; back in the day.

Here's another song about addiction from a really out there movie about addiction

Does anyone else remember when Carnival Cruise Lines used that song in a commercial for family-friendly vacations?  I found that a bit surreal.

Sure...it's a song about heroin addiction, but it has a good beat and you can dance to it.

I do remember that cruise lines commercial.  Weird stuff.

Do you remember when HP used the Violent Femmes song Blister in the Sun to sell their laptops?  They had to know what that song was about.

This is the only version I could find (but I didn't look very hard).

I think Ad / Marketing  Agencies will use anything with a catchy beat or compelling melody to promote their goods. They figure most people won't have a clue as to where to song came from or it's meaning and, they're probably right.

True.  That's why so many people still think "Every Breath You Take" is a love song, even playing it at their wedding.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
