I like to tell newbies to reward themselves for the work they put into a quit. Did a thread of starting now back when I quit, after one hour I bought a sandwich where I don't normally eat. Day two of my quit I bought two magazines because I could not decide which one. Mrs says "you quit smoking, buy both, you deserve it"

So I think most people don't have someone realize how hard those days are at beginning unless they were a smoker once. And who is going to buy you an ice cream on day three at lunch? You.

After a while the rewards get bigger, shoes at a week. English translation book for islanders. Whatever. But how big have you gone and what point? Vacations. Pimp suit? What did you reward yourself with and when?

I did invest about 1000 bucks in go fast parts for my Harley at six months but probably was going to do it anyways. Thought I wanted new truck and always said if i quit for a year I would. Didn't want to smoke in new truck but at year plus, still haven't done it. Still like the current 12 year old F350 crew cab with a honking 6.8 liter v10 motor because it is a monster and scares the idiots away in most situations. But I think at two years I might do it.

Pimp suit. hahahahaha  That's a good one.

I have rewarded myself probably too much.  Need to clean my air tools from yesterday (yep, those were rewards too) but will make a short list.

To be completely serious, my biggest reward is this forum.  This is my safe place, the place for me to keep my head straight.  I love our membership and what you guys have done with the place.  I sit back and think how hard and long it takes to get a forum off the ground and you guys just made it happen literally overnight.

So yeah, my biggest reward by far is just coming here and seeing new posts, people helping one another, sharing things and the countless times I've literally laughed out loud reading some of this stuff here.

I have some air tools but rarely use them. Most motorcycle stuff I do by hand as to not strip or break anything. Most bolts or nuts are 5/8 or smaller. Even on truck I use hand tools except for wheel lugs. Got to t love that zip sound on air gun.

I bought myself 3 passports at one month (for the two kids and my mum, not dodgy ones lol). At 3 months, I paid towards air fares (with lots of others helps too) for florida trip in october.  Have to stay quit as I don't have a hire car yet and it looks pretty big compared to england haha.

Also, so many treats as I went :)  Mostly food! Now diet equipment, new weights last week, due to all the treat food! All good fun.

Literally Saturday just gone I spent a weeks smoking money on going to the beautiful town of Oxford and seeing the universities, eating out, paid for parking (extortionate!!!) and I do lots like that now. I love not denying the kids or myself for basics anymore.

In my humble opinion we all deserve treats. It is the easiest and hardest thing to do, very true only an ex smoker would understand. xx

At the start, sweets. Then some gadget type things..a Fitbit.

Most important I still catch sight of a smoker..and think 'I gave myself Freedom'

For the first 12-13 months, it was just money stashed for a down payment.  Now.. its the car payment on my new wheels.

and the occasional Starbucks.

Thank you I will remember to reward myself, sometimes you get so wrapped up in quitting you forget the good things.

Eggs come free...its the gals who like to "change" men usually. The ones who were slightly bad or trouble makers themselves, but want a bad boy to act good in public.

Now the Action followers like the sensitive guys with so many feelings they make guys like me want to punch them. Those guys are sneaky who pretend to be "a friend" while working their master evil plan. These girls really hope he is that nice but know its not possible. Dreamers

Then the Jimmy girls, he is the wounded puppy type. Girls want to help because he is helpless type...pure sneaky. These girls want to help anything, they not kill bugs, they push them out the door.

Or the Scottt gals- oh you fatboy who lost weight. So happy to knit sweaters together, yuk. All caring like action but sneaky too. Same type girl- dreamers

... the Sgt troop of window lickers. I like to meet a woman in real life who will take orders and call me the boss.  Dream on Sgt- they are messing with you. These don't exist.

MQ cheerleaders- they are pretty special too. Special education.   his logs of working out and stuff would drive a woman crazy. On line he is a prize, but let those smelly gym clothes and drooling dogs get on the clean carpet and see what the girls write then. The girls would be the yelling type in short time. Yeah, he can have them.

Cross dressing Stu- bet his girls like to put make up on him too. The golf thing is a toss up, some women just want him out of the house for some peace, others get pissed at his coming home drunk in a skirt with lipstick approach to life. This girl could be anyone, anyone with patience and sharing, sharing clothes and lipstick.

ROb F- I guess he is like a rock star- smaller following but more stalker like qualities to them, piercings and tattoos on exposed areas.

But the eggs- these are the dangerous girls of the whole board. Secret bad asses with such a friendly name. Their tattoos are from before they were called tramp stamps. They are hidden on inner thighs and back ends. Ankles and bellies. These girls go to church, but used to sneak out back with a boy when nobody noticed. Eggs rule but they are free.

I forgot a few (joe and justsomedude...paul) on purpose. These are the good guys, with cute avatars of cats and family or smiles. I wont talk about those dudes because they are part of the master plan. Women have changed them. Like taking the claws out of a bear.  The women don't really follow them because they aren't a project. Women want a project man, one to mold to their liking.

What parts did you buy bakon?

At 5 months, I've bought a new helmet, new race suit, and back protector totaling about $1200 :(.  I keep telling myself, "don't worry, you've saved over $1700 by quitting." Lol

I put in a cam and dyno tune. Picked up about 20 hp and 20 pounds of torque. Did work myself last winter. Runs nice all over. Not a rocket like yours but fast enough to get in trouble and better than 90% of the Harley's out there.

+20 hp and +20 torque on the dyno are huge gains.   That's money well spent, right there.  Good job sir! :)

I justified being able to afford to put my son on a traveling baseball team.  Doesn't seem like much...but it is.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
