Quit smoking , it ...

Makes such a huge difference in the environment . I was sitting with my coffee this morning thinking of the past when I smoked in the house on rough days . I didn't smoke every day in the house but for several years before I quit I didn't care anymore .  I had a very selfish attitude I think , to subject not only myself to that but visitors and family . The stench that smelled . The butts in the ashtray full to the brim in various areas of the house . Counting them all was impossible as they overlapped layer upon layer squished in various lengths some saved for the next needed fix . The yellow walls , the smoky glass windows and mirrors and lights and just a greyness that loomed as smoke filled the air was not a pretty vision this morning . This is coming from one who thought she loved smoking , needed smoking , deserved the right to smoke .

I am glad I don't smell that stench in my home this morning . Oh my to breathe this fresh crisp air and feel and see the sun coming through the clearest window panes is breath giving .

Of course each home I moved to over the years it all started out the same way , promising myself I wouldn't smoke in my home . This time would be different . But this time is different . I have truly made the commitment to nope . Truly humbled myself to reach out when in trouble and not take my quit for granted .

I truly appreciate not throwing my butts on the ground , standing by the mall or the restaurant corner holding the wall up as I lean against it , protecting a purposeless cigarette from the wind , the rain and the cold .

Now , let it rain , let it snow !

Are we all not dancing and singing with joy Because if not we should be .  Day 1 or 10, 000 , every day makes a difference in your environment indoors and outdoors . Chances of fires are less both indoors and in the beautiful forests of our countries .

There is so much beauty in being free .

Please feel free to share , discuss , add your perspective from your living room , add links to the harm smoking does to the environment etc .

I can tell you being the mom in law of my daughters husband a fireman that the devastation going into house fires caused by smoking , families without a home and in some cases death and the tragedy and effect it has on them and firefighters and their families  is something that can change when we realize there is no place in this world for smoking to be allowed .

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
