Trying hard

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting here crying.  My optimism from this morning is wearing thin.  I feel like a loser in that I am already in tears in less than 24 hours.  I want to be stronger than this, I dont want to let myself down, or my husband, or my kids.  I think about having one and then I think about how guilty I am going to feel.  I'm trying to tell myself I can do this over and over

Crying is good - it is your body's way of releasing tension - cry as much as you need!

You are not a looser, you have gone a whole day without smoking! Sounds like a winner to me.

Imagine how proud of yourself you will be when you wake up tomorrow and you didn't smoke! Plus, you will be stronger because of it.

I see you are logged in and reading this, so thats a good thing  :) ...dont hesitate to ask questions or do whatever it is that you think will help...everyone of us has our own way to deal with quitting...the first few days are the worst...of course, thats obvious...you just have to keep the finish line in view.....

It's okay to cry NXD4b, do anything but smoke.  Scream if you need to.  Vent here.  I know it seems easier said than done, but it really is easy.  Once the first few days of withdrawal are over, it is all about commitment.  It truly does get easier and quicker than you realize, I can promise you that.  The best tactic that worked for me was distracting myself.  Read posts here, post your frustrations and good news.  We have a social forum, lots of games and what not to distract yourself.

Keep us updated on how you are doing.  We have been where you are right now and want to see you succeed in your quit.  It may strange at first, but yes a bunch of strangers on the internet really do care about you and your quit.  By the way, Welcome to the QT  :)

I'm still here and havent had one.  I keep waiting for the craving to pass but so far its not.  I'm trying to focus on other things but thats not seeming to work right now either.  All of your words are encouraging and I'm thankful for them.  :)

keep talking to us...we will keep you distracted  ;)

the physical crave passes, but your mind holds onto that thought...

I would see how long I could hold my breath in the first few days of my quit...It distracted me as i was always trying to hold it longer than the time before.......what-ever works  ;)

hey you - crying is all natural - you are going through nicotine withdraw - your body is already adjusting but your addiction is crying out for a fix

you are stronger than the crave than the physical - you have to get angry at it at this point you have to yell at it and shout NO! NO I am not listening to you

the more in control you are and shout it down the easier it will be at this stage

take deep breaths, drink lots of water go for a walk and kick lots of rocks

this is your time to fight this and you will win

I know you will win and each time you do it will get a little easier

keep reading, keep posting

one step at a time one crave at a time

this will pass trust us xxxxx

Cats don't smoke. There is a cat section in the social part of the forum that can distract you when you need that. I never smoked in the shower or bed so they were places with no smoking memories.

nxd4b,

You are not a looser!   You are a winner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Do you know how many people can not do what you did today!

You are very strong to quit cold turkey this this, most people would cave in an hour!

Crying is natural way for your body to react to the change, but think of it as tears of joy!!!!!

Fist day is always the tuff one!  This happens to everybody who quits!

But you are surrounded by lots of friends here!

Drink a large glass of water and take some deep breaths of clean fresh air!

Craves only last a couple of minuets!

Everybody will stay here until you are better!

I'm still a mess.  I wish I could sleep for a week, I kind of even wish I had the flu or something that would make smoking seem less interesting.  My husband is still at work and my kids are picking today to not listen and be out of control, or I'm probably just noticing it more today.  I turned off the TV because every channel I flipped to someone was smoking of course.  Now I'm just writing and reading on here

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
