Unconditional love in it's purest form.  I once read that our dogs love us so much they dream about us each night.

I didn`t need to read this just now oh dear :(

I don't really understand what is being demonstrated with this video.

Equally you could have a dog mauling a child with the caption "god doesn't make mistakes"

So sure, some dogs are soppy loved up beasties and others are crazy nutters. Cute video though.

To me, this video shows the unconditional love that dogs possess.  The dog in this video doesn't care that the child has Down's syndrome and doesn't stop showing this little boy how much he loves him.  At first the boy is a little unsure but soon can't resist the unconditional love of the dog and wants to hug it and be near it.  Very touching.

Our family dog was lost for a little for more than 24 hours this past weekend and I feared the worst but a very kind family brought him into their home until we saw each other putting up fliers about the pooch.  Yesterday I was reminiscing about my old yellow Labrador Retriever who passed away six years ago.  He was such a kind, cuddly dog that loved to be hugged and by your side 24/7.  I remember on a very cold night I was working into the early hours of the morning (middle of winter in the snow belt of Ohio) so I decided to just sleep at work where there was little heat.  It was hovering around 0°F outside and 50-ish inside.  All 95 lbs of him slept on top of me all night.  I could barely breathe but he kept me warm so I put up with it. lol

My old yellow Labrador.  :)

Anyway, before I start going on for hours about my dogs, I was looking at videos of yellow labs on YouTube yesterday and came across this one and thought I would share it.

Yes, anybody who knows how to use video editing software can make a video of anything good or bad and caption it "God doesn't make mistakes."

How can anyone possibly know, it's pure speculation based on nothing

The dog in this video doesn't care that the child has Down's syndrome

It has no concept of down's syndrome, it's just a cute caring dog, you're reading way more into it than is there.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against dogs or cute videos of them, but dogs (and every other animal below us in the food chain) are stupid. Their behaviour is based on survival and domestic dogs (especially breeds eugenically derived) have found certain behaviours (being cute and loving and needy) are beneficial to survival. We humans react well to that and feed and love them back (generally, unless you're an arsehole). It's nothing more than that!

I disagree with animals being stupid. I think humans are so over domesticated we don't know how to read the instincts given to animals. Some people know animals but I would say we think we are so superior, that we can see the forest at times because of the trees.
I was a handler and semi trainer for many years. I say semi because I didn't know anything compared to the old trainers but more than average joe. Be suprised at what a dog can learn and naturally want to do it, for very little in return. Our ability to think is different than their ability to learn. We problem solve but they do to. It's not all learning a trick and repeating it. The dog progressing in the video is an example of learning how far to go. They will never build a car but they don't need one either. It's technology that keeps us alive. They don't need it. Sure dogs and other animals can't even serve their own food. But they are smart enough to make us do it.

I'm not looking for the next great debate on dog behavior with somebody on the internet.  Glad you enjoyed the video.  :)
