I was out with a couple of friends for lunch and drinks and my girlfriend pointed out how nice it was that I could just sit there and enjoy the conversation instead of excusing myself every chance I got to have a smoke. It was exhausting! It really did feel so nice to just relax and not get that urge and have to go outside by myself.

Well done...  I missed out on so much when I used to smoke by "stepping out".  We come to realize so much during our quits of what we were missing in so many ways!!!!

Beyond the physical absence of stepping out for a smoke, there was a mental absence during most social interactions.  I was only good for about twenty-minutes at a time when I was smoking.  Anything more than that and I was scanning for the exit and looking for an opportunity to step out again.  Even when I was there, I wasn't really there.

Congratulations on ridding yourself of smoking and taking back the control.

I used to believe the lie that smoking relaxed me.

You just spoke the truth.  It is much nicer and more relaxing not to be controlled by cigarettes.

Keep up the great work!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
