So I have craved a ciggies most of today and I know it won't help if I have one so I'm having the debate situation in my head again yawn.

 

so I went for a job the other day and was told I failed the interview, but then I'm approached to say #quote here is what we can do for you we can offer you a job but not in the place you went for. err don't insult my intelligence that's like saying you failed yr driving test but we will let u drive anyway I'm furious.

Oh and to top it off I was told by a work colleuge today that she thinks I'm suffering from depression NO I'm stressed not depressed thank you. Sorry for the rant...

I'm sorry Laura, that really sucks.  I don't blame you for being upset at all.  I would be livid!

 

For years when we were stressed, sad or mad we clung to our smokes in the belief they would help pull us through.  That's why you feel like you want a cigarette now.  It takes time to retrain your brain to not want a cigarette.  Basically, your brain wants things the way they were because that's what it knows.  The key here is to stick to NOPE no matter what.  After all, just because you want to smoke does not mean you have to.  Do something else to take your mind off it.  Exercise is a great way to beat a crave back, even a just a walk.  Take deep breaths, meditate, whatever it takes.  Just don't smoke.  In time, not only will you still be quit, but you will have made this trigger much less powerful and eventually it will go away completely.

Sounds like you need something good.... what trips your trigger...what makes you happy?

 

Do it twice and call me in the morning.

 

Keep on keepin on with you awesome new non smoking life.

Try not to waste your energy with an internal debate.  As soon as a thought comes to you, tell yourself that smoking is not an option, no debating.  I found for me that the thoughts bothered me less if I dismissed them quickly and absolutely.

So sorry you are having a bad day, Laura, but you know smoking really won't help.  I agree with Chrispy...give yourself a treat!

I will not smoke i don't want to smoke i have had enough of being controlled by smoking just wish that the Iwac would stop every time I have stressful day I know it won't help. Addiction sucks!!!!

About the job offer, sorry that they are taking the Mickey. Like you, I'd be tempted to tell me to stick it ;)

Remember even non smokers have bad days too

hope that day when you don't think iwac comes soon Laura. Really great that you've got to that point though, I'm sure the craves will go if you do something physical, could that be possible next time (or this time if it's still happenning). xx

Thanks action I'm getting there I'm so fed up with quitting smoking to the point Its becoming a habbit just want done with it. i quit for 9 months last year sad i started again but you live and learn.

Hi Laura sorry to see you've had a bad day (took me reading all the posts to work out what iwac was, don't call me a dumb blond for nothing) every trigger, every crave that you overcome is taking you closer to the days when they wont bother you at all, quitting smoking is hard we know that, which is why so many relapse, but you have to be stronger, remind yourself why you stopped, if you did relapse all the same sh@@te would still be happening, but on top of that you would feel disgusted after 5 minutes because you had smoked, its a roller coaster of a journey but the rewards are so worth it.  Keep going Laura you can and will do this xx

having bad days suck :( - im afraid im a half full glass kinda girl - The job was going to be poop anyways you gotta tell yourself and keep applying for more jobs who knows the next job you do get offered might be fantastic

 

getting through these days will make your quit stronger just hold on the rope hun x

Laura, ride it out and you know it will get better and the urge fades. Today I got a smoking thought and I was annoyed and thought No! and that was about it. Each day the thoughts are less and less. I know they will be gone entirely soon. Hang in there with me

I think Gabby and Soozie said similar things, about long term quitting and then going back. I only scored one long term quit 14 years ago, I can't remember! I say that as I think it says something about your commitment laura. Some people leave it eons, scared to try again or in a way scared to do it again, winning can be as scary as failing to some addicts.  The fact that you've added in a place like this, to vent and get support and help others (thus reminding you of what you don't wantto do again) means this quit matters to you. It's strong and you are nurturing it to get it to a place where it's safer and you can just managenot to smope.

 

You're doing great, even those roundabout days (what I call my iwac days) are progress and once done, never have to do the same day again if you just hold on. 

 

PS would feel the same about the job but more pushy then Tracey's half full kinda girl, more money and less stress?  Might be worth a look. xx
