Congratulations on four months redemption. Now that you are smoke free this long do you have a plan to get off the gum and become totally nicotine free?

That gum is a lot of relief when feeling too bored , i sometimes chew it to even kill the  boredom

 

Maybe i should try a good nicotine free gum next time .

It is great that you are 4 mos. smoke free but you need to be nicotine free.  You have to realize you will be uncomfortable for a period until you get the nicotine out of your body.  I know you can do this.  Follow Jillar's lead and start chewing the nicotine free gum.  You will feel so powerful when you are finally on the nicotine free path.

Congratulations on being 4 months quit. Do you have anything planned to celebrate. 

 

I must admit sometimes it feels you talk about the nicotine gum just to stir up a bit of controversy. Saying you use it to kill boredom just feels like you are trying to poke the bear but in a very subtle way.

Congrats on 4 months smoke free. Hope you can continue that and get off the nicotine gum too. Then, you will be truly free :)

Nicotine free gum would be a good idea, just don't chew sugar-free, THAT would be torture.

Congrats, Redemption3/Potts! Celebrate and KTQ! You mention boredom alot...don't you have work around the house to do or any hobbies?

Thanks for all the replies .

 

I am not trying to promote the use of nicotine gums in anyway .

 

Its just that during my beginning days of quit , gums was the only thing that stopped the craving . That is not all , i do not have too much time to even think about my cravings .I feel its a waste of time .So that is why for a quick relief from cigarette and addiction related thoughts i eat a gum and it goes away .

 

Otherwise these addiction related thoughts itself would stay in my head for more longer periods than you think .

 

Anyway if you have lots of time in your hands , slowly slowly avoid using all sorts of nicotine related products .

 

But the problem again is the addiction related thoughts would stay in your head for a longer period .

 

I will try other chewing gums too soon .

The Gum should only be used as a aid for 12 weeks ...I do believe you have gone past that point ...

If you keep putting nicotine in your body ...you'll never be free of nicotine ..or withdrawal symptoms....

You are still having pangs because of the gum ...all you have done is swop one addiction for another ......

It doesn,t matter what the president was doing ..or Joe bloggs....if you want freedom from nicotine ,you have to stop the gum ....

You will still have to deal with the withdrawals... All your doing is prologing the inevitable.....

I agree with what Doreen is saying R3; it's now time to make a plan to get off the gum. That doesn't mean quitting it right away but make a workable plan that YOU can live with. If you're using 3 per day, cut that down to 2 per day for a week or so then down to one per day for a short time then set a date to stop altogether. That way you will know how cutting it down will affect your cravings. It shouldn't be a gig deal at this point because you have done well in adjusting to the mental part of not smoking cigarettes and that's a major step forward because that's what takes the longest. Adjusting your day to day life so you can go about your day without smoking cigarettes. Getting nicotine out of your body is a 2 -4 day process once you stop putting it into your body by what ever means (smoking, vaping, gum, patches or sprays). It should not be that big an issue now after 4 months of not smoking. 

 

When you start cutting down on the gums and get a craving, distract yourself. Think about something else or go do something, even if it's just a walk around your living area. There are all kinds of ways to distract yourself. Whatever the case, you don't want to use the gums as a new mental crutch to keep putting nicotine into your body. That would just  ruin all your hard work for the past 4 months.

I have never used this gum for 12 weeks continuously . I have not even eaten 10 packs of gums till now 

 

These days i get a pack once a week   , That is all . A pack has 9 gums in it .

 

So i have only used it very less times .

 

Anyway i do not have much cravings like i used to have in the beginning of my quit journey .

Yes i am ditching these gums too very soon .

 

Here is the date i am going to quit the gum , June 1st 2019 . Its the beginning of rainy season here , and i love those times .

You know best what will work for you. Once you quit putting nicotine into your body altogether, you will be truly free and then it will be a matter of never putting nicotine back into your body ever! Then and only then, you have truly taken back your life :)
