Well this Job Hunt has reminded me of one thing,  when you are content you tent to gain wieght.  Yep new interview clothes, back up to a 40 inch waist and 240 pounds.  Granted its not all from the quit, but if I don't get a handle on the comfort food, I will be pushing 300 down the line.

I throw away more than my quit last time, I was looiking pretty damn good there, was down to 210 and very active, getting to old for this roller coaster.

Time to get serious about me, my health and welbeing.

Its a wise choice, Opah. I had got so lazy and after i quit i started back to a healthier life, its addicting as well but the good kind. Add some exercise into your daily routine, walking really helps and you burn some calories

Much like quitting smoking, making healthier choices is a simple process.

Clean up the diet a bit.  Move around more.  Gradual changes over time add up quickly.

Ya I know all ready got the Morning pretty much done and My lunch is all so healthy, its now the last of my Vises, My Beer !

Been drinking better and better beer, Low Carbs and Calories, cut down to a couple a day, more on the weekends.

But yes probably 80 % of the Carbs and Bad calories are from the beer.  So here I go again, when i got down to 210 I was not drinking beer at all, that was the three months after my surgery, so back to it, I shopouldn't need a gapping gash to do my self better.

To lose weight, carbs don't matter
To lose weight, "bad calories" don't matter.
To lose weight, "healthy lunch" doesn't matter.
To lose weight, Beer doesn't matter.

All of these may or may not matter in other contexts, but for simple weight loss forget about it.

Your goal is one, and only one thing:  A caloric deficit sustained over time.

That's it.

Nothing more is required.
It is both necessary, and sufficient.

A caloric deficit sustained over time.
It's the only thing that works.
It's the only thing that can work.

All else is noise that confuses the issue, and gets in the way.

Eat what you've always eaten - you'll do it anyway when you're tired of missing the things you like.
Just eat less of it.
Eat. Less.
A caloric deficit sustained over time.

Sarge recommends myfitnesspal.

When i read this, I had to sign in to say how I am totally in agreement with everything you said. This is exactly how I lose weight. I find it the least complicated of all the diets and it works like a charm.

It works every time.
The Human Body can't break the laws of physics.
The  Laws Of Thermodynamics are a thing, and "Conservation Of Energy" is inviolable.

A caloric deficit sustained over time.

Lets see if I git this ?

My Body Burns calories to live and function

I eat to supply my body the Calories it requires to live and function

I have consumed More calories than my body required to live and function = storage of excess calories

So I reverse this senario

My body Burns Calories to live and function

I eat but do not eat what is required for my Body to live and function

My Body pulls callories out of storage to agment what I did not supply

I start to lose inches and wieght from my body pulling from the Fat storages

After a sustained time I will be leaner, Lighter and healthier

I think I got it Sgt !

OK looking at cooking and it seems to increase the calories of anything cooked ?

I do not use oil, spary when cooking my meats, I have very good non-stick pans, I

cook at low heat and it cooks in its own juices, so why would the calories increase ?

if anything one wouold think by cooking off alot of the fat content it would lower the calories, correct

A little bit of Knowledge can really turn your world around,  so I want to enter into this calculated not rushed, Smooth and not forced.

I want to ease into this,  let my body adjust bit at a time, give my stomach time to shrink back to what it should normally be.

Portion control should be a natural thing, over eating was worked at and the stomach made to stretch.

Nope.

For weight loss, it does not matter.

There may be other reasons - health, taste, ethical/moral reasons ... but for weight loss it doesn't matter if its Wild Boar, Fattened Pork Bellies... or Ice Cream Farking Sandwiches.

Maintain a caloric deficit in line with your weight loss goal and it doesn't matter one iota what you eat.
If you want to lose a pound a week, you need a deficit of 500 calories a day. 3500 calores is one pound.
It doesn't matter what you eat.

Enjoy your Ice Cream.

Meat has a lot of water. A LOT.

A pound of raw, uncooked meat can be up to 40% water - zero calories.
40% water, 60% calories (protein, fat)

Cook off the water. Now a pound of cooked meat is 100% (give or take (not really, it still retains a lot, but significantly lower zero calorie water and significantly more higher calorie proteins and fats)).

It's a calorie density thing. They are, literally, watered down in raw meats.
If you're measuring pound-for-pound, cooked is more calories per pound.
The same given hunk will have the same calories before and after cooking ... it'll just weigh a lot less.

It generally took years to put on the weight.
Sarge has NO IDEA why folks try to take it off in a month or two.
That's a recipe for disillusion, demoralization, and failure.
A pound a week is a good, do-able goal for most folks. You can usually manage this without much hunger.
Two pounds a week if you are a glutton for punishment and have a high threshold for personal discomfort.
Most mere mortals can not sustain three or more a week for a significant time period.
If you've got 40 or 50 to lose, plan on taking a year.
Too many try to do that in 3 or 4 months and find the hunger unbearable, give up in disgust and go back to gaining again.

I agree ...little at a time ....it's all about life changes ...not just a rush fast weight loss...which almost end in putting back on  the weight what you have lost ..

Help me defend myself !!

I love Cranberry Juice coctail, and know its good for me, but the wife now my self apointed watch what I eat specialist says       (Never mind)

Just read the Label ,   SHIT,   looks like another good thing I have to give up  120c per 8 oz,   4 servings per bottle = 480c a pop

Wait a minute if I apply sgt Barney's Ideaoligy to this maybe I can make it work ?

So I have Black Berry flavored water Zero Calories, salt, carbs everything ZERO,   Now if I add 8 ozs of Crandberry to 8 ozs of my black Berry water I can reduce the cranberry/black berry down to a respectable 60c per 16 ozs rather than 120c per 8ozs.   I love this New Math stuff
