While waiting in line for free food at this one church that does it monthly, I've noticed how hard it is NOT to say something to smokers. Luckily most would move away from the line but this one kid in his 20's wasn't that nice. I try to keep in mind how much I resented it when someone would comment on my smoking habit but its funny when the shoe is on the other foot what we're tempted to say isn't??

I can't believe the medical profession blame smoking for everything, what non smokers don't get cancer...this was my war cry. I would get angry if docs blamed something I had on smoking, like they weren't trying to work it out.

Now I daily listen to "but I'm barely smoking at all" from a failed quitter! It's a failure to smoke when you meant to give up, argh!

So many years being a big old dopey twonk to be honest. Lesson finally learnt.

For sure-just like being super fat is why you're sick or whatever. I think Drs. love smokers & fatties-sad huh. :wacko2:

"Hey, gotta die from something."

"I could get hit by a bus crossing the street so might as well live each day like it's my last."

"I've got good genes and strong lungs."  <----This has got to the dumbest thing I've ever said.

I used to say/think this in regards to smoking and my father in law still does, drives me crazy now. Makes sense I guess cause cancer, heart attacks, strokes, etc etc are fun.....especially for your loved ones (insert sarcasm).

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
