Daily exercise log for everyone :)

Recommended Posts

As much as I love my Yoga connected to the elements I have decided to add Insanity classes once a week starting tonight...wish me luck (and life). If I don't make it I loved you all  :D  xx

We never ever regret a workout.  We regret only when we miss a workout!

I was wearing the lazy pants again today. I did sun salutations (the ones I do are a bit harder, I think it's the warrior pose I include but I'm not sure, and I also do the full chaturanga) and I stretched. I also walked the half mile or so to the supermarket (I live in a city center) and walked back with heavy stuff in my backpack.

But hey, it's not running and weight lifting so it doesn't count as much.

I will have you know, I stayed in my pajamas until 2 pm today.  I'm not familiar with the sun salutations and such, but anything is better than nothing :)

I love yoga!! Sun salutations is yoga isn't it, warrior is a yoga pose, oops, should have checked first lol. Mine gave me some superb core and upper body strength without making me muscly, I like Tara Lee :)

So I did insanity. Who knew you had muscles on the outside top of your thighs but you do and ouchy! First time in a long time I've felt sore after exercise...pretty excited to go back nest week.  At the end I saw my reflection and thought "oh look, I resemble a ribena berry" (blackcurrent juice for our overseas brigade) haha. I was maroon!!

20 mins of yoga and a 20 min walk today to take it easy :)

Here's the one I do, with video clips for each pose in the salutation. She does the same addition I do, raising the arms when one leg is back, which gives a great stretch. I used to dislike sun salutations when I attended yoga classes; as I am now doing them at home I have come to realize how incredibly brilliant they are. You can do them quickly or slowly. Doing them quickly gives you a good heart rate, and slowly is great for toning and strength. :)

I ran 10 minutes on the treadmill, and did 15 mins circuit weightlifting. It was a pretty light workout, but I got nauseated toward the end. I wonder if it's withdrawal related. And boy, can I smell the people at the gym who are smokers!

My goal is to go to the gym every morning, I have an irrational expectation that my life will be happy if I overcome myself and have great workouts at 5am at the gym.

****

Added three hours later: Wow, my body is reacting to my workout as if it was a mega-workout! I suddenly felt completely knocked out, and had to take a 45-minute deep sleep nap. And now my body feels as if I've really pounded it!

I'm totally used to working out, and this was less than a third of my usual workout routines. Really interesting.

Did you guys get nauseated when you worked out in the early days of your quit?

From my somewhat warped point of view, a workout is only a success if I become nauseated. The nausea is basically your body telling you that enough is enough already.

Early in a quit  your body is dedicating a lot of resources to cleaning up the mess made by smoking. It only makes sense that your tolerance for exercise is somewhat reduced in the short term. The good news is that soon you will start to see improvements which will allow you to workout longer and harder than you thought possible.

Enjoy your new found freedom and health.

Best Wishes.

Lots of good stuff up there!

Like Scott - I tend to forget to update in here - but I do update Myfitnesspal - user name

El_Bandito

Funnily enough MFP does not update on strength training.

Combining some weights work, with some fat burning (treadmill, bike, rowing) and then some swimming. All very gentle - but having the desired effect!

Ah I see, very similar moves to the Tara Lee - Earth DVD just with extra bits and pieces.... do you find doing it as a stand alone helps you at all? Like clear your mind, make you feel stronger, focused etc?

Had a fall last night ( please don't tell Bakon but I literally tripped over a cat !! ) so off the gym for a bit ... Already missing it - but I did walk home from work !

Oh jeez, I hope he don't find out...it'll be carnage!  Howare you now?

Insanity was the Shaun T crazy, it was multiple workouts in rotation but you do 45 mins a day. Idid try the series as a smoker, I was dying by day 3 lol. Now they do classes based on the moves, think it's hit aus as well. From your training session descriptions it's kinda like a class of that... A similar type of workout is the HIIT stuff that's all the rage too....

This is the shaun T vid description

and as it was so successful trainers were sold like a franchise that every 8 weeks has an different program from the moves.

Monday's are Insane days - BOOM :)  (and I only crawled to my water bottle once last week haha).
