Congratulations @Wren18 for being 9 months smoke free.

Well done on officially being 75% of the way to your first year of freedom. Its great to see that as your quit is getting stronger its getting easier. I just don't know what was sprinkled in the water for January 2018 but the crew of newbies that month are all amazing. So big reward for being 3/4ers if the way to the lido... that is an impressive milestone and should be celebrated.

Thanks to everyone.

I'll admit month 8 was a bit different...i have been thinking about smoking a lot more. I was hoping by now i'd just have the odd smoking related thought. Anyway haven't smoked and won't be doing, have continued to just wait for the thoughts to pass.

Your messages have made me realise i am proud to be 9 months in :) Thanks Sslip i know we are at a similiar position...so congratulations to you too.

Wren, congrats on the 9 month mark (looks like we are in the same boat here).  I too thought month 8 was a bit harder than expected but I knew that going in since I knew it would be a big trigger period of time but I made it through  and looks like you made it through also -- great job and the lido deck is not far now!!

It may be the seasonal changes that have made both of your month 8's a little more challenging? Just a thought. During that crucial 1st year, the change in a season often brings on new smoking triggers that you may not even be aware of. At least in our minds, we started moving into the Autumn mode as of Sept.

Both of you are doing just fine. Remaining on guard for the unexpected is always a good thing - keep at it :)

Congratulations wren18.

Do not worry about random craves or errant thoughts about smoking.

It takes a long time for the addiction to fall asleep, that is just the nature of it.

You must reward yourself for your fine 9 months

and hold tight to NOPE.  Then there will be no worry, no worry at all.

Any ol crave that bothers you will get stomped on pretty damn quick.

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
