That's the same here @jillar... in some states they can even do forced evacuations. Black Saturday changed my opinion on staying, I had uncles stay during the ash Wednesday fires and save their houses but after black saturday why stay???... its not worth it, you can re-build, you can re-plant, you can get new shit but you can't come back from the dead and staying put can place others in danger... I have lots of mates and relos in the CFA and they all struggle with the no assistance post mandatory evacuation... its not fair to add that to the load these people already bare.

So your house/storm shelter might hold up... your on higher ground so storm surges aren't an issue???.... what about when the power goes? How many days you good for without power?? You got enough medication for the long haul??? Food?? Water?? ... its not worth risking it... if the government is saying mandatory evacuation its not a game, that's serious shit... just go.

Do the government run buses for people without cars?

Its great to see the neighbouring states lending a hand like with evac sights, restores hope for humanity that does.

That's a monster storm for sure. Get out of it's way sooner rather than later if you think you might be in it's path!

Look at how it's affecting all the weather patterns around it too! That's a huge chunk of the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans that are seeing some sort of impact to weather patterns :63_astonished:

Stay safe Johnny! Hope you and all your folk fair OK through this storm :100_pray:

Don't like the fact the wall hasn't fully formed yet... means she can still grow ? .... praying for all. This is like watching a car accident in slow mo..... makes me feel sick and I'm on the other side of the world.

Is everyone OK .....????

Where I'm at,  Raleigh, NC, was originally in the direct path but now it is on the edge of the storm.  We've gotten a decent amount of rain and my power has been out of a little over a day but things are not bad compared to many more directly impacted by the storm.  There has been 20 + inches of rain (with more on the way) in places not very far south and east of here (Wilmington, New Bern, and South Carolina is now in the path).

Things aren't too bad here but the images in the below links aren't very far from me.

Wilmington NC damage

New Bern NC damage

Prayers to everyone impacted by this big, slow moving storm.

Johnny, so glad you are safe but the pictures you shared showed so much devastation.  Hope the rains slow and the power is back up and running soon.

Glad your safe @johnny5 ... hope you don't get to much more rain, or run off.

@Rozuki is your niece and her family in Wilmington ok?

Jo, have not been able to get through to her yet!!!

Update at 11:55 am - she and her family (husband and 3 kids) are OK...no other details yet! ?

Johnny, glad you made it through OK...looks like quite a mess down there....

So sad when we are virtually helpless to protect ourselves and our property from these events. It's such a personal invasion when weather decides indiscriminately who will be punished and who will be spared. Scary stuff - wishing all in the Carolina's the very best!
