Someone on here (can't remember who sorry) talked about being in control. I've made my own version of it and thought I would share.

Basically don't be scared of triggers just know that you will get them and have a plan to escape them.

For example go down the pub. Know you will likely want to smoke. And make sure you have enough support around you to walk away from the situation.

Only you can smoke a cigarette and if you put yourself in a position of temptation just make sure you have an escaped route planned.

Of course some triggers are unexpected and come out of nowhere, but even these are expected as you should assume you will get these. And this is where you need support from friends or this forum. I truly believe this forum has saved me from relapse.

I know this isn't profound words of wisdom, but its working for me! :)

Very good Sarah ;)

You are right about your friends here. I think for me just 'knowing' that there are so many people here ready to help me if I need them is enough to get me through most things :d

You are doing great :p

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
