I'm a dick

Stay away from the alcohol if that's easier for you, however I can vouch that alcohol is not the problem, TOO Much alcohol is. If you are anything like me, a glass of wine or two won't give you a giant craving, a bottle however might. Mix that with an exaggerated mood (too happy or too angry/sad) and you have a recipe for failure. Everything in moderation.

We all day that "I'm so gonna stay away from alcohol", after a night like that. But then we are out eating Italian and that glass of red is just what we need.

Again - drinking and being drunk are two different things.

Get back on the horse and try again, you learn from your mistakes :)

laura, you can do this, I know it!  Jonny is right: sometimes it takes really messing up to realize that you need to get it together... I think you understand that now, and it's half the battle to know it.  Hang tough, educate yourself on the addiction, have a backup plan... and if I were you, I wouldn't go near alcohol for a while since that's when you chose to smoke.  I have seen more people relapse while they were out drinking.

Anyway, today's a new day and it's a new you... you go, girl!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
